Lamb is the meat of kings. I have a Tibetan friend who keeps threatening to cook a whole lamb in a pit that he plans to dig in his garden. Been three years, now. Any day now. I'll researched it and you can get a whole lamb for a couple of hundred quid. Fuck him, I might do it myself. Or I can get one of those Ninja Woodfire, or whatever, things... | |||

"I currently have a jambalaya on the go in mine and it smells incredible. Will just serve it over plain boiled rice later. x" Jambalaya: - 450g boneless chicken (thighs or breast - visible fat removed and cut into bite-size chunks. - 450g smoked sausage, cut into 1" slices. - 350g large prawns (peeled and deveined). - 1 large onion, finely chopped. - 1 large green pepper, seeded and sliced. - 3 stalks celery, sliced. - 3 cloves garlic, crushed. - 400g tin chopped tomatoes. - 3 tbsp tomato puree. - 1 heaped tbsp Cajun seasoning. - 1 tsp dried oregano. - 1 tsp dried thyme. - 240ml chicken stock. - 2 tbsp freshly chopped basil. Brown the chicken and chuck everything except the prawns and basil into the slow cooker on low for 8 hours. When it has 1 hour to go, taste and season how you like it and then chuck in the prawns and cover and cook for the last hour. Stir in the basil and serve over plain rice. (I tend to do them separately as rice doesn't fair too well in the slow cooker for me). x | |||

"My ClusterFuck Herby Beef Stew: - 800g diced beef. - 150g split red lentils, rinsed. - 1/2 diced swede. - 3 large carrots, chopped. - 2 large/3 normal diced onions (preferably red). - 3 crushed garlic cloves. - 1 diced red chilli. - Pack of stringless beans, chopped. - 700ml water (with 1 beef stock pot + 2 stock cubes). - 1 tbsp mixed herbs. - 2 tbsp tomato puree. - 2 tbsp Worcester sauce. - 1 tbsp soy sauce. - 1 tsp chilli powder. - 1 tsp oregano. - 1 tsp basil. - 1 tsp thyme. - 4 bay leaves. - 1.5 tsp sugar/sweetener. - 2 tbsp beef gravy granules. - Salt & pepper to taste." I should probably point out that my slow cooker is 6.5L. I don't recommended trying to do this one in a smaller one! I do roast potatoes separately to serve with this but you could easily throw some potatoes straight into the slow cooker. x | |||

"Breakfast in the slow cooker. Now that was a game changer on a weekend morning. Sausage wrapped in bacon, pot of beans, black pud, anything you can bung in there for a fry up, only had to cook the eggs and toast! Danish x" I saw a Ytube video for a full English in the slow cooker. Highly recommended. | |||

" I wing it but basically fry onion in a oil until it goes see through, chuck in garlic, tomato puree, paprika, and fry for a couple of minutes. Chuck in a tin of chopped tomatoes (contents not the tin) and stir, then chuck this lot into the slow cooker. I fry potatoes I’ve cut into squares and chorizo until they start to brown then bung it in the slow cooker on low for about 8 hours. For the garlic chilli prawns I do them when I’m ready to eat. olive oil in a frying pan and add garlic, chilli flakes, pinch of sea salt and stir for a couple of minutes until the garlic softens a bit. I whack up the heat and add the prawns, frying quickly on both sides until they pink and cooked through. Crusty bread, real butter for the mop up If you remove the chorizo the patatas bravas is good for vegetarians. Garlic and chilli strength optional depending on your taste buds Enjoy | |||
