for a last minute holiday for a week or so with the following requirements :

*Not a massive complex

*Room with great views, preferably sea or nice pool

*Nice decor but not too modern and clinical

*Great staff and service

*Excellent and varied food (certainly no baked beans at breakfast) either on b&b or half board basis

*Nice terrace for pre-dinner drinks

*Lovely relaxing pool to soak up the sun

*Close to a little town for shopping and nice cafes, bars etc but not too lively

*Reasonably priced

I know it's a challenge but let's see

Sounds like it but not really. Just want to hear from people who have been tp somewhere like that recently. I would even consider airbnb type of accommodation if it was a nice recommended place.

Thanks for that. Urs it is all inclusive which not mormally what I am looking for but far too big and according to many reviews quite crowded and noisy. I prefer smaller and more relaxing though it does look very nice in many respects

"Palma"

100% palma

A majority of hotels fit the criteria

And a really good night life too

I go every year usually twice

Only had 1 bad hotel to date

Unfortunately can’t remember name

But it doesn’t have sea view anyway so you won’t be booking it lol

Really cheap deals atm too

All inc for 7 days around £5-600 per person

Was literally just looking 10 mins ago for October!

Thanks, let me know if you come across anything nice, though not keen on all inc . Sea view also not an issue if it is still a nice view

Portimão specifically Algarve Casino Hotel. Onky 200 rooms, adult only areas, brilliant spa/Turkish baths, five minutes walking to centre/marina, heated salt water adults only pools, beachfront, private balconies, bike hire, food is nice.

Quinta Jardins du Lago in Madeira is great. The service is second to none.

Grupotel Molins in Majorca is also nice but the decor is a little tired.

Thank you, look nice. Not cheap if you add everything and pick better flights but certainly worth considering

No probs, good to look at that anyway. I just refuse to pay extortionate prices these days as they all doubled their prices and halved the quality of their product. It's not an issue if you get what you paid for but not usually the case anymore

Madeira has all the things you require and there are a lot of hotels. Is the baked bean thing non negotiable?

Have you considered the Algarve? I can't recommend any other hotels in either place but they might be worth considering

I am sorry but the baked bean thing is not negotiable. I don't want to see baked beans and tinned tomatoes on my holidays and they usually come with anemic limp sausages and who really wants those

We fully intend to, thank you. I think you'd like where we're going but I think it's possible that baked beans will be on offer at breakfast .
