How far in advance

Do you arrange socials/meets?

We're looking into April next year being the latest so far (hang on, I need to make sure they're actually still willing to waste their day with us, Sherlock - where are you?)

Hopefully get a couple organised for October/November

Luckily we know Mr's shift pattern and days off well in advance so can usually plan stuff and hope childcare is still OK when we check the day before

Does anybody not plan that far in advance?

Manchester-ish

October is looking very busy but there's this couple we're hoping to squeeze in on our travels

We know there's stuff we'd like to do in November. December is probably more vanilla. So definite plans are looking like Jan/Feb at the moment

How are you intending to squeeze that couple in? Are you more a cool book cafe type or cocktail bar?

We live apart so we have to plan a fair bit in advance so we're both free

I might plan it for a while in secret, but I only invite the other person very near the time in case I change my mind!

Normally the same week for us, anything longer loses the nervous anticipation and too many things can change in vanilla life.

Only plan when I know I'm free, so at the most 2 weeks....just in case they change their minds....

this - lol, although we plan events & friends meets further in advance, even those are subject to “life”

Lately too far off into the future but it adds to the fun with anticipation and craving the person even more.

I've often done 4 or 5 months in advance, when I'm busy or away.

Some idiot, when I told him I was in Sydney, Australia, wanted a same day meet in the UK .

We worry that too far in to the future and we might be greyer, shorter, uglier and more self-effacing and less faux-modest than we are this week

I quite like planning in advance - I'm afraid I'm a great believer in if they wanted to they would so having definite dates locked down works for me.

That being said, I'm very aware of how quickly things change after an incident this year, people can go from lovely to toxic very quickly.

So right now I'm a bit cautious. I've planned some things for the next few weeks, doing a Big Thing with someone in December and yet to make plans for the new year.

We can be a nightmare, childcare and all that at the moment we've the Leeds social booked and trying to arrange a date but it's not happening schedules clashing, we are usually a few weeks/ month or so in advance.

If people don't want to wait they just aren't our people.

I hope your book is long enough because Mr TT2 gets his coffee served in a bucket rather than a mug

As for our meets, it's usually either a few days or weeks. Nothing too crazy. We are childless, but Lorenzo works every other weekend and I work full time, so planning is still required.

Normally a couple of weeks in advance but we’ll have usually been chatting a while before then.

October is looking busy with meets and November we’re throwing a party..

just us two, no kids, so planning is easy..

Couple weeks maximum.

If someone can’t spare a few hours within the next 7-10 days then it’s either not a priority for them or they are genuinely so busy I don’t think it’s a good match

Even at my busiest times, I can find 2 hours to grab a coffee/pint

I can’t plan in advance so it’s the last minute for me.

As you have probably guessed, I’m not overly successful with this one.

Weeks and months sometimes. But then sometimes I'll meet within the week if the 1st message.

It's almost impossible for me to meet January to mid May due to crazy heavy work commitments so people have to be extra patient with me then if they want to meet me.

If people can't appreciate that my important commitments in life come before casual sex then they aren't for me.

Shift work and childcare makes it very hard for us to find free time easily. And normally those slots fill up fast (vanilla and not so vanilla). So for us opportunity can either be pencilled in long in advance or come up last minute. For us it's perfectly ok to arrange a meet months in advance. Obviously there's that chance things could change over that time. But if they do the time is never wasted (providing we get some advanced heads up) and we'll go on a date or to a club.

But to be fair we don't really arrange to meet new people off here. We tend to just still to going to clubs. We don't have to make arrangements, just go when is good for us and meet new people there.

I can be two weeks to a month in advance.

But if people can do midweek which is quite rare it can be as little as 3 days.
