Men what do you do that makes you a nice guy?

At this point the term makes my skin crawl.

Do I want a guy who does actually nice things? Of course.

Do I want to associate with anyone who thinks or states that they're a nice guy? Fuck no.

I'm not a nice guy. I don't try to be a nice guy.

I am whatever this is. Good? Bad? Bit of both?

Pretty much this. On this site 'nice guy' comes with a whole heap of entitlement. Don't tell me you're a nice guy, show me you're nice.

A nice guy is a man who is nice. It really is that easy.

What it isn't is a man who is nice because he thinks it entitles him to sex or a man who confuses creepy, sychophancy with nice

A nice guy is just a bloke who’s nice and doesn’t expect a fanfare and to be told how great he is for doing the bare minimum (not being a dick)

There will be lots who say they don't like the word being called "nice" word, but I certainly don't want to be the opposite. I think it's a catch all for lots of things.

Are you kind, considerate, interested? All those things are traits of nice people, generally speaking.

I don't need to tell anyone I'm a "nice guy" though - I guess nice PEOPLE do, don't say.

I agree with you! I think it's a real shame the words have been co-opted to either be an insult, sign of entitlement or some kind of warning signal...

If I described a friend as a nice guy (or vice versa), it's because I like him!

I think the negative idea of a nice guy is a guy that does nice things because he thinks if he does enough of them he will be owed sex/relationship/whatever

However when I see women say that just want a nice guy, I’m not sure what they mean. They probably get contacted by 100s of perfectly nice guys every day but choose to ignore them, so obviously there’s more to “just wanting a nice guy”

Manchester-ish

A few interesting points. I have nothing against the word nice although I'm aware some people dislike it as bland.

I think saying "I'm nice" is very different to someone else saying that a person is nice.

There is also a difference between this site and the real world. Most 'nice guys' on here expect a medal and a fuck for just being an acceptable human. And then get pussy when it doesn't happen, showing themselves to not actually be that nice.

Manchester (he/him)

Personally I hate the term ‘nice’.

It seems to come packed with a level of entitlement if a person uses it about themselves; ‘I have achieved the basic level of respect for others, so I deserve your attention and/or body’.

If it’s used about me, it seems the most bland and nondescript thing that a person can say.

Chinese Takeaway near you

Unfortunately being the ‘Nice guy’ can be read as ‘being a pushover’ hence the common saying ‘nice guys finish last’. The amount of times I’ve heard ‘oh he’s too nice’ which they associated with ‘boring’ when further asked. Even in movies the nice guys are typically portrayed this way haha

Just an observation I’ve made over the years.

- I’ve always found the nicest guys to be alpha. Real alpha, not the loud hateful obnoxious plebs that self-proclaim to be alpha (real alphas lead observantly from the shadows, they have a special aura and don’t go unnoticed …) These guys have oodles of self-respect/confidence and are in turn respectful of others, equalling *nice*

North East Scotland, mostly

On here, it's the bare minimum. Along with genuine, clean and punctual.

I don't mind it as a term, although it's a bit bland. I don't like when it's weaponised, though. "I'm nice so therefore I deserve blah blah blah" Or the flipside, "I tried being nice and didn't get anywhere so I'm going to be a dick now".

Nowhere

I am a multifaceted complex human being with any number of motivational factors at play at any one time - work, personal, family - all feeding into how i will react to a situation or a person. Am i a nice guy? I don’t go out of my way to be unpleasant- i try to see the good in people first… but am i also a complete arse in other situations… absolutely…. Im not a nice guy… I’m a mirror and how I react to you is a reflection of you…

People have their own definitions, but I'd prefer to be honest, good, decent etc than just 'nice' tbh.

I can be nice (I am really) but good luck in this world being nice all the time! Men in particular get thoroughly rolled over. Some successful men - all they've ever been able to actually do is fuck over the nice guys they come across.
