"I'm 9 months cigarette free 4 months tomorrow!!!! nicotine free. I've put myself as a nonsmoker as I don't want to go back and I'm confident that won't happen. I'm not struggling with it. Life insure companies count you as a non smoker if you've had no nicotine products for 12 months. But they can fuck off....I'm not smoking or using nicotine. How long have gone OP? I think a well done you may be in order." Good work

Aim for 48 hours. 3 hours is a start....keep going. You got this.

"How long do you leave it until you declare yourself a non smoker on here?" You can declare it any time you like, personally I think that declaring that "you have given up" is a big step in making it a permanent thing. Cal

"My first target is a day, if I can do a day I can do two. Second target is a week, if I can do a week I can do two If I hit a month I'm a non smoker " You've got this, I tried many many times and I knew that when I wanted too, I would and when that time came, I did. Only you can want too. Danish x

"Oh that's brilliant OP! Well done you. I wouldn't change mine for probably a few months. I will be changing it in the new year. I think you know when you're no longer a smoker." Kinda agree with you Meli, but one of my motivations is for opening up more potential meets for when I do start getting involved again. I dont know what the percentages are but let's say its 50/50, will/won't meet smokers, I dont want to be ruled out by half the meets on here before they've seen my mugshot! Symbolic changing out for the better, but likewise symbolic if I have to do the walk of shame in putting it back

"So just a quick update. I managed 2 days having just 1 cigarette at bedtime. So they didn't count. Back to work and back to normal until home time, then just one at bedtime. So they definitely didn't count. So I'll call those days practice. But now I'm on day three of zero cigarettes. Fuuuck it's difficult! One of my motivations is purely just that I should be a stronger person than a stupid addiction. When you see people with real problems, addicted to shit like heroin, it HAS to make you think how on earth they can conquer it. If they can then I can " Don't beat yourself up about what other people are doing. If you find it hard, you find it hard. Congrats so far! I think at least 3 months to change to the no smoker tick box. Good luck. Maybe just give up for today. It's easier to just do one day, right.

Set a definite date for doing it and then you know what's going to happen, to keep going so you can change it proudly. I'm not changing mine until it's been a few months. I don't care if it rules me out, I'm good. Keep going OP, and do post back with updates, it's lovely to read, x
