I think their record sales might suggest otherwise....

BBC4 programme superb. A heartening revisit of their early work. Lovely. 50 years on, we're still talking about them. They must have done something right

liverpool

Such a great selling point for the city ..... Hard Days Night Hotel (lovely hotel although was on fire yesterday !), Strawberry field gates ( forever being painted due to people writing on them), yellow submarine barge hotel. Beatles museum, Cavern club, ... Penny Lane where the road sign gets re-newed often due to it being stolen.

Everyone seems to want to take a souvenir of The Beatles.

Wherever I go in the world, as soon as I say Im from Liverpool, the first conversation is 'The Beatles', and second comment is 'hide your valuables' lol.

When some of the crap that circulates on the radios can say they have sold as much or are as loved as the beatles, then i will bow to them.........

They havent yet, and probably never will

I thought the cover of There's a place by Gabrielle Aplin was lovely. Wasn't that impressed by the others though, I'd rather have heard The Beatles.

Beatles were the first and the best . It's a British thing to knock our heroes . I think it tests the idea of why they are the best and they always come through on top. I love the stereo phonics. Their singer can sing anything and make it sound great .

The Beatles aren't really my cup of tea but I can understand why they are liked.

People like boyzone, westlife and take that. It's all good happy feel good pop and there's nothing wrong with that.

They were not the first though. Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly & the crickets come to mind.

I'm a huge Beatles fan and yes they probably were the best band in the world in their day. But things have moved on undoubtably they had a big influence on the way music evolved but with or without them music would still have changed its all down to personal taste. I find as I get older music I didnt like now appeals more even some of todays bands are very good(still dont enjoy anything from the decade music forgot the 90's though)
