For me Leanne Norman because of her work in advising FIFA and UEFA in commercialising women's football. I have actually managed to have a conversation with which competitive changed my perspective on commercialisation of sports not normally seen as viewer greetings like Chricket for instance.

Another feminist I like as an academic and activist Is Hellen Pluckrose. Who is left liberal who successfully challenged shoddy scholarship in the social justice sphere of grevence studies. Something she still does to the is day regardless of the death threats she receaved. She always campaigns for iniatives to improve the numbers of female scientists in fields where there are few.

Oh and to actually answer your question, I have no idea who are the famous/best feminists, and I don’t know any. I will say though, that it’s great they’re out there.

To answer your question, I think my favourite feminist is my mum and yes it’s a sappy post. Feminism is about choice. My mum is a carer and growing up she was a stay at home mum but that’s always been her choice. I didn’t want either of those things so have a very different life than what my mum had at my age but we are both very happy and we both are feminists who want everyone, regardless of gender, to be empowered to live the life they want without prejudice and without restrictions. You don’t have to be the best of the best to have value, success looks different to everyone.

My favourite feminist is Angela Davis. I remember reading lots of different feminists at university, some really great ones too but I can’t explain it, when I read Women Race and Class I felt like it was something that was so good and so important. It taught me so much. And I love love love Hazel Carby as well for her British perspective. These feminist voices are important to me because they reflected the experiences of Black women and it reminded me of the responsibility we have to remember the experiences of Black women and to improve the experiences of Black women. That Black women’s experiences have not historically been reflected by many traditional feminists which made feminism inaccessible and inapplicable. Black feminists have applied an intersectional lens to their feminism since before the term was coined and way before it was cool.

So Hazel Carby and Angela Davis are two feminists I’ve read and loved and hope everyone else reads and hopefully loves.

"Germaine Greer. Love her. "

I have my obvious issues with Greer but reading The Female Eunuch (which I still have a copy of) was also a really eye opening for me. I’ll never forget reading her 21st anniversary Intro ‘What more could women want?

Freedom, that's what. Freedom from being the thing looked at rather than the person looking back. Freedom from self-consciousness. Freedom from the duty of sexual stimulation of jaded male appetite, for which no breast ever bulges hard enough and no leg is ever long enough…’ It goes on and it’s powerful. She has her moments

The weird thing is I can't think of any but that's a tangent irelivent to the post.

I terms of porn there are two directors who were feminist.

Shelly Wilson who was a Greek concentration camp survivor. And german Paulita Papel who came out of the me too movement. Something I'm ashamed to admit I have only heard of a couple of months ago when listening to a wrestling podcast

Yeah I knows she's unpopular atm. But I like people who call it straight. I've tried reading some more academic feminists and they tie me in knots.

Abdullah Öcalan yes he’s a man, but his lectures and books on ecology and feminising in the Middle East inspired those Women's Protection Units to travel from UK, USA and all over the world and join the women to take on & defeat ISIS and liberate Rojava, while the men didn’t want to know and fled here ! , so many paying the ultimate sacrifice.

Paul Kagame and Rwandan Feminism is a controversial subject.

It’s feels good on the ground. Women are equal and respected in a way the UK cannot understand, Rwandan women are strong but feminine.

He built a country that’s the 2nd most gender equal in the world, most gender equal in Africa and 50% of judges are now female by law and higher percent of female CFO’s than most countries but this was only possible because so many men were killed.

Yeah, it's all sunshine and sprinkles in Rwanda:

"Rwanda is a de facto one-party state........Although Rwanda is nominally democratic, elections are manipulated in various ways, which include banning opposition parties, arresting or assassinating critics, and electoral fraud."

For me, Shakespeare.

With the exception of the singular and unparalleled Hamlet, all of the lead female protagonists in all of his plays were cleverer than their male counterparts. Including Kate.

As a contemporary I'd say the scientist Sabine Hossenfelder, mainly because she's just a brilliantly skilled and formidable person who can stand up to anything. Feminist hardly needs more than that.
