Do you have a reason for it? Or just uncomfortable?" Never really thought about it. I guess a kiss on the lips seems like a different level of intimacy than I'd be comfortable with with my kids. On the other hand I've definitely received kisses on the lips from Europeans and just accepted that's how they do things. Likewise I wouldn't kiss my family on each cheek but wouldn't take issue with it by others. I think in this case the kiss itself has been the catalyst but also a distraction from the issues some women had with the blokes behavior.

"OP, what's it like still living in the 1970s? How has this conversation gone to my mattress lmao Because the snowflakes don't like a reasoned argument. A kiss is never sexual assault in that situation any more than treading on someone's toe in a queue is GBH. Hair triggers are go...... Grab someone's face and do the same. See how far you get You just can't accept its different, she was not just anyone & neither was he. The silly comments like what if your boss did it at work etc, they won the world cup. It wasn't getting some delivery Sent out on time. Ah. Winning the world cup makes the situation completely different. Understood " Have you never been overwhelmed by some momentous occasion, sad if not but you were not knowing either feelings as will never experience what they did at that time. As you say understood but somehow I doubt you ever really consider anyone's points as you've decided it's sexual assault which is truly ridiculous.

"Thanks to this thread, and ones like it, we will now have new question in our vetting list:- 1. Are you in a relationship where the other partner does not know that you’re meeting others. 2. Do you accept that consent can be withdrawn at any point in the process, including up to and during sex. 3. Are you in anyway homophobic, transphobic or racist. 4. Do you partake in an activity that exploits or kills an animal. 5. Do you watch men who get rightly called out for bad behaviour and abusive attitudes and feel sorry for them when it’s clear to the whole world they did wrong. " It was a kiss.

Do you use discriminatory language to describe a given group of people, e.g. from the country of Spain? We ask this because someone higher up the thread has used a word akin to using the 'P' word to describe someone from Pakistan, for example.

"I wouldn't be comfortable kissing my kids on the lips either. They most definitely wouldn't be comfortable with it! Does highlight cultural differences though which maybe complicated this incident. To me it looked as though this incident itself blew up not so much about the kiss itself but because the bloke had prior form and then went on to be a dick with the fallout. Do you have a reason for it? Or just uncomfortable? Never really thought about it. I was willing to accept 'cultural differences' but I'm assuming you're British but Cos says he's Greek Cypriot (like Spanish). You believed Europeans 'done things that way'. I'm not trying to dig either of you out here, I'm just trying to see why people feel a kiss on the lips is intimate. " Its not intimate it was a celebration a two second celebration he was happy and so was she, its been blown up out of all proportion, the media have as usual turned it into something it wasn't

I don’t think you are digging me out.I actually feel it could be down to culture.I would ask the question 22-25 ladies went up to collect their medals why did he not kiss the others on the lips. Honestly, I don't know. I'm not saying he's innocent. Where I really feel he went wrong, was not accepting he made her feel like she did. He should've held his hands up immediately." "I’ve always like to think I’ve been respectful towards women and tried to see how life is for them. However, conversations with women friends in the light of the Sarah Everard case, me too and the recent report on doctors and female health care staff have actually jolted me quite a bit. When you hear every single one of them describe the stuff they put up with from guys, it’s effing sobering. Most of it would be seen as “low-level” I guess, but it’s the relentlessness of those events and having to be constantly on your guard etc. After the report in doctors came out the other day, I had a highly uncomfortable, but very revelatory conversation with my octogenarian mum about what she put up with as a nurse in the 1960s and 70s. It was a bit jaw dropping. To many, it was just a kiss. I can see that, but she wasn’t happy and that needs respecting. It certainly looked “ewww” to me. Maybe it’s more a cumulative thing, where the person has experienced many “low level” events. Whatever, he was a d*ck for doubling down in the aftermath. I do wonder how many guys would accept being kissed by another guy on the lips in a moment of exuberance (I don’t think being kissed by a woman is a like-for-like comparison). I guess I just think it’s one where men should take a step back and listen. Women aren’t perfect of course (sorry women!), but there’s a massive imbalance around unwanted attention overall. If all that makes me a snowflake, I’ll happily wear that badge. The ones who bandy that term around are the biggest moaners anyway " Very well said. If we build a culture of consent at the lowest Levels it will teach the lesson to our children. To the boys who may become the perpetrators and to the girls that they knew they have the right to expect consent each and every time.

"Those saying he shouldn't lose his job does would you want to work with a man who won't acknowledge that he kissed a woman without consent and won't apologise for his behaviour? " It completely boils down to this.

"If he had kissed her on the cheek or both cheeks that would be acceptable but a kiss on the lips to someone other than his wife or partner is not acceptable What about my daughters? A kiss on the lips isn't necessarily sexual. . I personally wouldn’t be comfortable with that but your daughter you are the adult if you are comfortable with that that’s all that matters Why wouldn't you be comfortable with it? I have always kissed my daughters on the lips, as I have my mother. . Just a personal thing that I am not comfortable with But do you have a reason to feel that way? It's quite interesting to understand why people feel certain ways about certain things. . It doesn’t feel right to me feels almost like i***** to meSorry but WTF. Very strange. Very Common though. I remember people had a go at David Beckham for this I remember that too and also remember thinking they’re the ones with an issue not the Beckhams. To even think that is extremely strange and slightly disturbing. In my opinion. I kiss my kids and tell them I love them every single day. If anyone sees that as weird they need their hard drives checked. For sure This is also my thoughts on it. I appreciate others have a different opinion but hard to understand when they can't tell you why they think that way." . "He kissed her on the lips out of pure happiness infront of billions of people on TV but is now called as sexual assault and now the women aren't ready to return to football yet. Have a laugh. This world's getting so soft. Try kissing someone on the lips without consent. Let us know how you get on But he knows her and its was a celebration ffs. It ain't like he went to someone random in the crowd and done it.. " Neither knowing someone or celebrating equal consent. Your views are pretty concerning

"OP, what's it like still living in the 1970s? How has this conversation gone to my mattress lmao Because the snowflakes don't like a reasoned argument. A kiss is never sexual assault in that situation any more than treading on someone's toe in a queue is GBH. Hair triggers are go......" He kissed them WITHOUT CONSENT. That is sexual assault.

He’s only got himself to blame for the situation he’s in.

"I'm just keeping a list of all the times when it's ok for a man to grab a woman's head and kiss her on the lips. So far, I've got: If he knows her If it's a celebration Anything else? If he’s the Head of the Spanish FA Of course. And also if another celeb is accused of r@pe then this is ok. I saw that by a poster on this thread. So must be ok. Updating: it's ok for a man to grab a woman and kiss her on the lips if: if he's her boss OR if he knows her OR If it's a celebration OR If a celeb is accused of r@pe OR A woman has ever done it to a man OR If she didn't look miserable afterwards OR any combination of the above " New addition: If she doesn't immediately knee him in the bollox OR If she smiles or laughs afterward All of these reasons have been given by men on this forum to excuse Rubiales' actions.

It's a loving gesture towards his mother, nothing more. Also we kiss our daughter, both of us. It's parental love that is reciprocated.

"If it was not consensual: Why did she not knee him in the bollox? Instead of tapping him on his left hip with her right hand and departing with a huge smile on her face. Also, the video on the bus of her chatting with her team mates. She didn't seem particularly pissed off then. Agreed it looked seriously bad. But the dude was ecstatic at winning the world cup and people react in very strange ways. Just a mistake, a bad mistake admittedly, and he's being hung out to dry." It's assault pure and simple. So he deserves everything he gets. What will it take to change the attitude to consent is EVERYTHING?!

"I'm going to start by saying that I'm not posting my own personal opinion on this thread because, well, it's personal to me and not open to public opinion. However, like the BBC, I think some parity is needed. On live television Katy Perry turned and kissed a male contestant without warning. So, should she be subjected to the same judgement and ruling (whatever that might be)? Because it's an almost identical situation, but with roles reversed. Equality has to mean exactly that or it's not as defined. For those of you who are thinking, I can't see many males complaining about Katy Perry kissing them spontaneously, that's not the point here. HW&SB" I agree on the parity point. However people seem to be using it to allow this guy off the hook, rather than us actually perhaps hold both sexes to a higher standard which is the direction i think we should be travelling. It blows my mind that as a society things repeatedly come up where a large group of people are saying look can we just be a bit more respectful of each others boundaries, maybe not assume that we know what they are, check for consent before we cross them … all seems entirely reasonable. Then the other half of the population say absolutely not, its not a boundary for me tom dick or harry, therefore you are being ridiculous.

Rubiales did NOT win the World Cup. 23 Spanish women won the frikking world cup but no, a MAN has to overshadow their achievement. Rubiales won nothing. He saw a massive €€€ payday that he, as the then-FA chief could cash in on, but he did not score a goal, he did not save a goal, he did not set foot on the active playing surface. 23 Spanish women won the world cup, of which one was Jenni Hermoso. #SeAcabó

At no point did I do that. I tried to delve deeper to get some understanding of other viewpoints. I ask again that you don't put words in my mouth. " I think you are the one putting words in my mouth. I said people, not you. and i discussed one belief that you have then said it doesn’t track to working for another scenario. (Because i guess i can’t really see why you kissing your kids and mother is even related to someone being kissed by their boss). Nowhere have i accused you of saying anything

Thats a personal relationship where presumably both parties are comfortable with the kiss. It might not be sexual in nature but it is intimate and doesn’t track that because you do it happily with your daughter and mother that its ok for others to do it to anyone they wish with a “its not sexual” argument as justification I haven't said that because I'm comfortable with it then everyone else should be. Nor have I used that argument as justification. If you'd like discuss in detail with me, I'd prefer you not to try put words in my mouth. You do imply though that you think that people objecting to you kissing your children have the strange point of view. I guess i just think its something that is personal to each relationship, for some it is fine for others it is weird and to have that mix is ok. Can't actually believe that's something I need to explain. When you say 'people', that includes me doesn't it?
