One for the techies.....

My Facebook friend suggestion has thrown up a person from here. We're friends on here, but haven't shared phone numbers, or messaged via any other app. I always log in incognito, so any idea how this could happen?

Not overly worried, but this seems impossible.

It isn't impossible I believe, but I don't know the technicalities.

Coincidence maybe? Especially if you are both quite local to each other. Other than that I have no idea.

"You may share a mutual WhatsApp contact? "

Correct. Or at least it's plausible.

Do you know each others real identities?

Do you both share each other phone number this would be only the case...

Remember whilst a site doesn't share a users information you may have consented via something else which gives permission to browse everything that you've view which further gets shared leading to the unknown

Have you ever met? Facebook uses bluetooth scanning a bit like how the Covid app worked.

If either has ever searched for the other that may be enough. You know whether you have or haven’t, but the other party is an unknown.

Facebook doesn't use Bluetooth in this way... (they have been asked before, and said no!)

If you know each others names, they might have looked you up on Facebook and then from that, they can appear on your recommended.
