Are they worth doing or not worth your time?

As much as it is nice to cool off in the pool, I think it's only worth doing depending on how busy it is. I've just tried going to the pool on the roof but all the sun loungers by the pool were taken. The only ones available were on the other side of the roof so opted to sun bathe instead as I'm not risking going in the pool and leaving my stuff by a far away sun lounger and having them nicked if I did.

Your stuff will most likely be fine.

Dubai & Nottingham

Here in Dubai private pool/beach deals at 5* hotels are the main weekend activity for tourists but you pay for a specific lounger or cabana for the day and are looked after by a waiter. Your fee is usually full or part redeemable on food. You need a pool by the beach or on the roof to stay cool here if outside as the air and sea is pretty hot in summer. In winter public beaches are fine no need for a pool

If there was a sun lounger by the pool available, yeah but having a swim while all my stuff is on a far away sun lounger is not worth the risk for me.

You could leave your towel on your distant sunlounger and put your bag of vauables next to the pool as you swim.
