Why is this the absolute worst dress code to try and figure out?!

Have a meeting/training on Monday that’s now changed to smart casual instead of our branded uniform, and I’m at a loss.

How casual is too casual? How smart is too smart?

The definition has changed over the years. Whay i think of it, your going to restaurant for ni e meal or the theatre. Its not gala so not formal dress or nightclub dress somewhere in between. For guys could be suit no tie etc. Smart jeans or trousers, Shirt or polo shirt, Shoes/trainer style shoes but not trainers- id prefer nice pair of shoes on a guy.

Ladies nice top, blouse, jumper - nice skirt or trousers or jeans etc.

I hate trackies, sports trainers and sports/team shirts, unless you are at an event that warents it.

Just make sure you don’t look like you’ve dressed from sports direct and you’ll be fine

I feel like "casual" is too vague now. Can I turn up in trackies and sliders, or do I need a collared shirt and chinos? Either way, don't get mad at my choice

Seriously though in a work setting smart casual to me would mean trousers/skirt and blouse or dress with shoes that enable you to join in whatever humiliating team building exercise they come up with

I was going to write exactly the same, however taking fashion advice from a middle aged geek like me isn’t necessarily a great idea

If you align with what everyone else is looking to wear then you have 'met' the dress code requirements with consistency.
