Solo Holidays...

I'm very tempted to book my first solo holiday because I'd really like to go away and all my friends are either boring or in a relationship.

I've never been away on my own and would feel quite self conscious and probably a bit bored too!

Has anyone experienced solo holidays and did you enjoy yourself?

all my friends work in retail so they can't come away in December

I went to Denmark on my own for a long weekend it was the best time, I just got myself a map and headed off where I wanted, when I wanted for now long I wanted .

My friend is currently in Tunisia on her own and doing so many adventures things I get tired just looking at her videos lol . It's great to have a break where you can be totally selfish and just focus on yourself

I used to go quite often. Loved it, you can do exactly what you want with no compromise. I’ve done beach holidays and also spent 2 weeks in Japan in my own. Go for it OP.

I reckon you should go for it..you'll regret not doing it. I haven't been abroad alone but I have spent a week staying at a Health Farm/Spa alone...went on two occasions and would do it again. If I could afford to go abroad I would do that alone too.

Yep, done it 3 times now. All 3 to Spain (different places) to do language courses that involve studying the culture/history for a week. Includes excursions, classes, lunches and extra for accommodation if you want uni accomm. I met people on the first one in 2016 who were on the one this year and ditto people I met last year. It's a multinational crowd and I've made some brilliant friends from it.

Berlin also.

And yes king, go and trust yourself and maybe meet a summer fling.

I’ve done it many times. But then, I’ve also moved to another country on my own and travelled a lot for work so maybe a bit different for me.

It is nice in that you can do exactly what you want. But avoid going to places / resorts with lots of couples it can make you feel urgh. I’ve done both beach holiday on my own and just loved reading and resting but equally nice to go somewhere you can do a lot, keep busy.

There is travel packages for single people with other singles - have a friend who loves doing those!

Tbh I’ve also gone on hols with a casual FWB on here and although we felt awkward for the first 5 min we had a great time!

Always solo. I much prefer doing my own thing. You just others yet you're not tied to them. I much prefer traveling around rather than being in one place though. Even now I holiday abroad just me and my 1 year old. I drag her all over the place.

Yes I love solo trips! I’ve never had a solo package holiday per say but I’ve backpacked a lot. Ticked off 67th country last year.

Made so many lifelong friends along the way too!

Go for it OP. You can’t live your life waiting for others. I’ll be doing it again for my 40th next year.

I love it!, maybe even prefer it. I've travelled alot on my own. If you're hesitant, choose an island perhaps. Hire a car (essential of you're on your own. It gives you all the freedom to follow your nose and explore.

Book yourself a couple of nights in one part. And then head off to another.

Stay in the old town (there's always an old town) .. And maybe by the sea.

I like to research a bit and do an activity.. Boat trip, scuba dive, rock climb or something that interests you or that you've never done before.

I just sent a week in Ibiza on my own for my 50th. Loved it.

Do it OP. You won't know if you like it until you try it.

That could be a good introduction. I have used these for places not safe for solo travelers or places really difficult on your own. You get a good mix of people. It's nice that you don't have to think about anything - you get taken to the good stuff. If so when booking id ask about ages of other people booked on.

I started going on solo trips after my son left home 10 years ago, and it was the best decision I've ever made. I don't do package hols because I love researching the places I want to see, how I'm going to get from place to place using public transport, and booking my accom directly. My best trip so far has to be Christmas & New Year in Sicily 2017-18. The NYE party in the piazza outside my hotel was a mind-blowing experience. The weather was amazingly warm and sunny! And a rather handsome Italian named Alessandro took me to dinner on New Years Day

To add to this Thailand is super easy to travel around. Much of SE Asia is actually. Southern India is too. North might be a bit overwhelming for a first trip maybe.

I go to Majorca alone each year and am in Palma Nova now. I don't think I could go on holiday with others again as enjoy my time alone. I always pick a busy resort as a base then travel by bus to other places I want to visit.

I'm planning a solo trip around Vietnam next year, for a month.

Have done a few weekend breaks on my own. Istanbul, Aberdeen, Krakow, Gdansk, Budapest, Liverpool.

I've been to Thailand and Mexico on my own, I just book flights and somewhere to stay for the forst couple of nights. Then just kind of wing it when I'm there.

When you're on your own, more people make the effort to come and talk to you. And you get up and do exactly what you went every day
