I think men are loudly attracted to slim women because of the way society treats fatness and has put slim women as the peak standard of beauty for so long. beauty standards are becoming more diverse and I think amongst my generation at least people love whoever they love loudly and proudly.

I like women that I’m attracted to.

This broadly means a woman that isn’t morbidly obese or dangerously thin when it comes to body type.

Anywhere between those two extremes I’m happy with as long as I find the woman interesting, intelligent and has an amenable attitude and personality.

Most men aren’t as strict on wanting skinny women as you’d think

Men like the women they're attracted to. Whether that's slim, athletic, chubby... I'm bored of typing descriptors now. Some men don't give a flying hoot about body size/shape, others do.

Find those you're compatible with and don't focus on those you're not.

You and I have different understanding of what thin means. There were a number of women who were not lean or skinny or thin/normal weight on their surrounded by women who were.

But on the other hand I find the hotlist goes through phases and fads.

Without wishing to sound like a white knight, I do not believe that this is true. It’s a bit like me saying women like “athletic/fit” men. Now I am sure some do. But I think it’s important to see the reality of this, walking down the high street in any town shows us that people of all shapes and sizes partner up and lead very happy lives.

I think if you asked most men want they want from fab, it would go along the lines of “sexually confident, good company, fun to be around, makes me laugh and has a similar taste in debauchery as me”.

Men are very visually motivated when it comes to this lifestyle but they aren’t simple creatures when it comes to their tastes in partners. I wouldn’t necessarily be guided by the media tropes that are forced upon us.

I try.

Just popped back to say I'm kind of glad that not all men like the same thing. And I'm kind of glad that not all men actually have a specific "type". Nor do all slim people all just like slim people, nor do all fat people just like fat people.

The variety of people that people are attracted to is beautiful. And I'm so glad of it, not least that it means that some utterly gorgeous men are happy to walk down the street with me, because they're not ashamed of who they're attracted to.

Curvy is a shape, not a size. So yep. People can be thin and curvy.

This thread hasn't dissolved into a bun fight, a slanging match, a one against the other.

So, as much as the OP appears to be about throwing a grenade and watching the fallout, it also appears to have not been successful this time.

This !"

I disagree with this to a certain extent. Female Beauty standards change all the time. Even faster in the modern age.

Early 1900s the standard was desirably plump, full figured (in reference to the shoulders and arms) and pinched waist. This was deemed Skinner than the Georgian beauty standard of obese.

Roaring 20s saw flat chested (to the point where women were strapping their tits down to make then look smaller), down played waist (what ever that means) and boyish looks, curveless features.

30s -50s

Curves, hour glass figure, large breasts. Slim waist

60s -70s

Thin - skinny, willowy, an emphasis on long thin legs.

80s-00s [What most men liked]

Curvy (not overweight)

Emphasis of ever larger breasts

Flat stomach

(The model agencies preferred tall apparently)

(On a tangent I looked up cm modeling as a research for this post and they wanted women between 185cm - 195cm 35inches in the hips or above and DD plus but rarely take models on who are larger than a G, depending on the type of modeling. Most others said no height requirements but need women to be busty, toned curvy figure)

Also 90s

(Heroin chic)

Do I need to describe this?

2010s

Big boobs

Greater emphasis on the bum and wide hips.

Muscular {in some form)

The reality and scientifically obesity is the norm (obesity BMI perception paradox) where we no longer see it on ourselves and others which may explain why many people react the way they do even they themselves are overweight or obese.

We are more accommodating of obesity.

What are 'Female Beauty standards' though? You make it sound like something official, but it's basically the fashion industry and it's used by all kinds of industries to sell stuff. They are always thinking ahead, and that's why it always changes. How many get to marry a model?

What most people are actually physically and hormonally attracted doesn't really change in my opinion. Most people like 'nice and healthy' body fat (ie stored fat in women and muscle in men, though not necessarily toned muscle - they can be bigger too) and some people vary of course - as happens with everything in life. That variation, over innumerate different things, makes us the species we are.

I think most men looks boobs or ass, if it's about sexual desires or who is sexy. Thin, average and curvy (not large) are equally attractive for most men. Except your usual stereotype (Tall, hung, hot, pretty face) are the guys who are usually picky. Even large (not just curvy) women are attractive for many guys. I'd say 5% in Central Europe where I'm from , but probably a good 25% in the UK.

Kennel club standards haha ?? I have never thought of it like that, that's a good descriptor.

In terms of official people have made it there job to make it official and researching it. Which to a certain extent I think it's a waist of time, when learning about history there is much more important things to research but that maybe that's my bias on the topic.

None the less, female beauty is not set in stone, and generally the standard changes depending on what is the opposite to the norm. If times are lean then the standard may be different and vice versa.

I will give they Susan Bordo book a read.

Hi OP, I noticed your status update, that this was a reference to hot pics!

I think you have to separate hot pics from the rest of fab. Hit pics seems to be a whole different industry in itself! And from what I gather, very few of those women actually meet anyway, they are mainly just there for the attention.

Otherwise for actual meets I think men are less picky than you think. We're female, we have a vag and a pulse! That pretty much ticks a lot of mens _oxes!

Does it really matter if some men like thin women and some men like curvier/ bigger women? It's their choice of what they do and don't like

Just like it's a woman's choice of what she does and doesn't like

Life would be pretty boring if everyone liked the same thing

Choice = good

Stressing over it = not good and can make you miserable
