I just finished watching the first season of the Netflix show and I can't wait for season 2!

It's a fantasy TV series based on the Japanese manga (and anime) of the same name. I had seen neither before, so it definitely requires no prior knowledge.

Have you finished watching it? How did you like it? Or do you want to watch it? Please do, it's awesome!

My favourite quote from the series is: "Being A Pirate Is Not About Raiding Villages Or Perfect Plans; It’s About Adventure And Freedom." I relate to it so much (well, the last part of the sentence )

The protagonist of the series, Luffy, has rubber-like abilities. What would you do if you had them?

I've been watching the anime and reading the manga for 23 years. It's a very amazing show and seeing it gwt so big in the west and having its own Netflix show is so awesome.

As far as live action goes its very good. There's alot of big mistakes and ooofs in the show but overall 4/5

Buggy my beloved.

That's awesome! I read somewhere that the creator of the series wanted it to be accessible to all audiences (even those who may not traditionally read manga / watch anime), that's why he was excited for the show and involved in its production. Based on the viewing records it set, he was successful!

Really? I read that it follows the source material quite closely, so I'm surprised you say there are many mistakes. Without context though, it is a fun standalone series for sure. I didn't mention the background music, but that's epic too.

Isn't he the clown guy / villain?

He is the clown yes. He makes me unwise.

It does have its issues but as you said. Stand alone is good and a good way for people to get into it.

I'm exicted to see if we get Arabasta arc because I can't wait for Ace or Marco.

Exceptionally well made show.

All of it overseen by the creater of One Piece. Changes approved and many made by the creator directly, other changes were likely things that just don't translate as well to both live action and TV in general. He picked the whole cast as far as I'm aware, or at least had a big say in it.

The show runner being a "super fan" helped a lot. The source material and the creater were shown so much respect.

Managed to avoid high levels of cringe that often accompanies live action adaptations, especially those of manga/anime origins.

I'm glad this was the case, stands in stark contrast to the Witcher show. Speaking of which, I just realised that the same composers were responsible for the music of Witcher S1 and One Piece - both with excellent soundtracks.
