Have you noticed though, that 'It ain't half hot mum' is one of those programs that never gets shown anymore?

Funny, isn't it, that we think that society is more liberal these days and yet there were things broadcast in the 60's and 70's that are no longer deemed acceptable.

I'm surprised that some of the 'Carry on..' films still get shown.

‘It Ain’t Half Hot Mum’ is being shown on ‘That’s TV’ channel (Virgin 150)

Every episode from series 1, episode 1 right up to the final episode when they return to Blighty and get demobbed.

It’s great, currently on series 4, episode 7, but the earlier ones were edgier and funnier.

I was also a huge fan of Howard’s Way in the 80s …. Oh those Shoulder Pads, and Jan Harvey had the sexiest overbite on TV … the first ever MILF I fell in love with.

It was It ain't half hot Mum and the OPs memory would have been as a very young child. I saw an episode of it not that long ago. I've just turned 53 (there is digit mistake in my profile date) and I can just about remember it. Dated it has. I can still enjoy them, but people talk of this stuff as if they are all all-time classic television. They were never-ever even intended to be such!

Some have aged ok (this surprisingly wasn't too bad) others haven't even slightly.

But they are half a century old some of them!!

Rising Damp with the late greats Leonard Rossiter and Richie Beckinsale. Admittedly I watched the reruns in the 90s as I wasn't even born when it originally ran. Absolutely superb and one the greatest sitcoms ever.

The main thing that was a part of "It ain't half hot" that's now deemed to be unacceptable is the racism...

The Carry On films base their humour on sex, which is totally fine.
