A change in approach to meeting

So I’ve been a member since 2008 and I’ve seen many dynamics change in approaches to meet in that time. Back when I started it wasn’t as it is now where people’s perception of themselves stemmed from approval of other through likes. Amazingly enough we used to meet people and draw our conclusions in person as so much can be lost through messaging, e.g. tone in a voice or facial expressions.

So I have decided to revert my dynamic back to how I started out. Simply like as you would meet vanilla friends and go with the flow from there.

Wouldn’t it be better to not hear a practiced script?

Do you mean like organised socials or literally just picking up people in pubs?

Organised socials or meeting in a pub. I’ve met couples in pubs for socials before sometimes you click sometimes you don’t.

I've been around here about the same length of time.

I've not noticed any changes in how people choose to interact and meet.

Are you talking about the trend of seeking 'fabs' on photos? Because that has little to do with people actually meeting.

Much easier and quicker to determine attraction in person. Online has made people disposable.

Couldn’t have put it better myself. People you may gravitate towards in person are removed from the equation when a message is miss read

I’ve changed my approach to meeting people off Fab too. I don’t.

We do blind socials where we do a little bit of chat and then just arrange to meet for a drink. It cuts through the crap, cuts down the time wasters and also most importantly means we don’t have our face pics copied and distributed by pic collectors.

Chat and fake/enhanced pics hide so much that can’t be hidden face to face.

I prefer to meet at organised socials I find it too difficult to bother searching for meets on here, interaction via text & in person can be hugely different, it's much easier at face value

No idea if it has changed since 2008 but I've been here since 2016 and I've never once met someone based on their pics or profiles.

I always chat for a long time before meeting and form my own opinions on people.

I don't exchange facepics and a lot of my social meets have gone ahead even though I knew beforehand that it would never lead to sex.

I'm more than happy when I'm meeting just to go for a coffee without the need for sexual attraction.

I, too, like to chat first. I give a lot of leeway knowing that text is difficult for some. But it does give me the chance to ask questions. Like many, my time is limited, so there is no point meeting someone who is clearly incompatible. I also often have a phone chat. Never video, though, as it makes me too self concious.

I always meet with zero expectations. Just simply people that might get along. It’s the best way I’ve found that works for me.
