… the queen died….

2 things.. 1 it doesn’t feel like a year ago!

2.. I remember it clearly, in my profession you hear whispers.. I remember hearing she was in a really really bad way at the lunchtime.. I had the afternoon off work and the last words I said to my colleagues before going was “buckle up! I fear we are in for an interesting ride!”

The there was a cost of living debate in parliament and all of a sudden you senior ministers disappear and I thought… shit!!!

The afternoon was in limbo… then you start seeing the presenters wearing the dark suits … then when we heard the family was rushing up.. we all knew

I think the rest of the day was surreal.. being on here, being on twitter and being on the international coverage

So…. What do you remember of the day?

I remember knowing many hours before, thanks to some info I was privy to at work. It wasn’t unexpected, ultimately.

I find the royal family a mystery tbh. Neither positive nor negative. Just a weird kooky thing about the U.K.

I was watching daily politics on BBC2, they were discussing the cost of living, then in 1 second everything stopped and the queen was mentioned, I thought she's gone ho dear me.

The thing that stood out for me was how politics is suspended in a moment until a new monarch is sworn in, and what an insecure time it is.

I'd arranged to meet a mate for a drink at a pub after work. Football was being shown on the screens when we arrived.

The footy suddenly got switched to the BBC news coverage for a while.

It doesn't feel like a year. I can't say I was particulary affected by the news. Obviously it's sad when anyone looses the head of their family.

I do remember driving home from the borders in horrific rain though

You have to remember the plans were drawn up and in place for decades. There was nothing unscripted about it.

It's about the only thing that Truss should get some credit for. She was able to look the part at least. A non speaking role suited her perfectly.

I had travelled from home to London for a work social event, as soon as the news broke we knew we had to leave and get to the Palace. We stayed there for a couple of hours, the atmosphere was so strange, it was of course sad, but there was out breaks of singing, people telling stories, strangers hugging each other.

I'm so glad I got to go and pay my respects to someone so remarkable.

I remember chatting about it at work. Came home and we had a guy here doing a survey and I refused to turn the TV off, rude I know but I absolutely loved her.

Doughnut was cooking burgers for our dinner and then just before he was dishing up, we was sitting on the sofa and Huw Edwards made the announcement me, I kinda just slid on to the floor and Doughnut held me as I wept.

I then went to where I worked at the time, as a child she went there, before her dad was king and his brother was still on the throne, as the Queen mother's brother was married into the family that once owned it, seemed like an apt place to be, I went and saw all my residents and we chatted for a while and I went off to find her old room, it was empty at the time but seemed like I needed to go there.

We then went to our local but not a local pub to see my friend, it was just the four of us in there most of the night.

Still miss her terribly.

I can't believe it's already been a year! I didn't really hear anything about it throughout the day but after work, I was in the gym and got notifications on my phone from the BBC about the Queen's health declining and family going to visit her so I turned my music off and switched to BBC radio 1 and it was then when I heard the news. It felt really weird, especially going home and watching TV as well watching it all unfold.

I remember being at work, sat in our parcel processing room down and trying to redo the rota.

2 members of staff came in, said she had died and then I kinda scrambled to find out if we needed to close that day/the day after. We didn’t, so went back to business as usual for me.

I also found the procedure interesting, and all the pomp It was an interesting time to have witnessed such a historic moment for the country.

There was this… because they announced after work had finished am I was 1st person in the next day I was scrambling around trying to find out if we had special protocols

First thing I did when I got into work was make a book of condolences, before we got the memo from head office, felt second nature to me.

I remember it vividly. I was flying to Vegas that day.

I was in one of the BA lounges at Heathrow necking the free booze and watching the TV coverage that HM was unwell.

Boarded the flight, put my phone into flight mode. Once airborne, and the wi-fi was enabled, I connected and immediately got the BBC notification that she’d died. Shortly afterwards, the captain made a very moving announcement which ended with the words ‘God save the King’. It was a very surreal flight, everyone was extremely subdued.

Strangely I remember I was listening to radio X and they had a competition going on to give away a car.

They had to cancel the competition it's odd the things you remember.
