Ironing...

There is something very grounding about ironing a crisp shirt in preparation for the day ahead.

Who's with me? Are you a hard-core ironer? A one item person? Or do you avoid as much as possible?!

Avoid as much as possible.

Prior to the Pandemic I did it all in one go, in front of the TV. Now because of MSTeams I can get away without ironing a shirt - though if I have to go in to work, I iron one shirt.

I strangely really enjoy ironing, it's brilliant for my mental health, it just lets me relax and chill, and makes me feel so good.

I am a bit of an oddball lol.

What? I though the world collectively agreed during Covid that ironing was no longer required.

I’ve got three shirts ready for weekend, and I’ll only iron the one I need.

It does feel like I’m going out-out.

I haven’t picked up an iron since the early 2000’s.

Just as well really as I never really got the hang of it

I'd rather buy something new to wear than iron. Seriously.

I don't like nor dislike ironing, it needs ironing, I iron it without thinking about it really. I prefer bedding ironed, I couldn't leave the house in clothes that are not ironed. I do a load of washing, it dries, I iron everything that requires ironing in that load.

Sunday night while watching a movie. The week is too hectic for single shirt ironing.

I find it quite meditative and thinking about what I’m doing and seeing what I’ll be wearing the week ahead helps me plan & prepare it.

When worked used to do a week or two weeks worth of shirts in one go. Maybe not perfectly good enough. One task used not mind.

Was in an office environment for years with a clean shirt everyday - ironed to perfection.

Video calls are great - if I know I have to be on camera I take the same shirt and put it on otherwise tee shirts all the way

( shirt is cleaned and ironed once a week for its few hours of use )

Iron shirts etc for work, and find it white relaxing, but apart from this, I actually avoid ironing as much as possible

Don’t do it. There’s only so much ironing any one person is allocated in their lifetime and I did mine. Rather well. But that’s me done. Out.

I smash a pile in no time. Shirts are a pain mind. Crisp creases down the sleeves. Double cuffs too which is a little trickier.

I don't like it, my mum tried telling me I should iron my older brother's shirts for him. Of course I never did

He's my brother not my dad. Grown enough to do it himself since I am younger didn't make sense to me

It's something I would probably enjoy if I became a wife and a mum

I believe creases tend to fall out during the day also

I enjoy ironing. My shirts deserve the pampering. I find the paaf! hiss! and whoosh! of the iron therapeutic and satisfying. I like my iron. Its soleplate is my soul mate.

Is it your soul mate when it spits out that rust coloured water on your white shirts?

Yes, because I use De-Ionised Water from Robert Dyas. I have no issues with rust.

I used to iron constantly, so as soon as I had the chance to stop all that, I did Obviously it gets dusted off for special, nice outfit occasions though

Sod that malarkey.

I don’t even have an iron/ironing board in the house.

Wash it, dry it, bung it in the draw til next time it’s to be worn.

I do sometimes look at an item of clothing and think oh dear it does really need an iron. Then pull it on over my head and yank it about a bit then just hope for the best.

Your body heat will iron out any creases

(Well….that’s what I always tell myself anyway)

Yes I think if I pull it flat when I sit up against the back of the car seat, that will iron the back out at least with body heat and pressure.

Ditto. I do enjoy ironing but not in this heat...

I iron my sheets, not because I particularly enjoy the task but for the moment you climb into freshly laundered and ironed sheets, especially on a Friday night, and cuddle in together...

I used to always iron my clothes, however as years go past I use a good laundrette instead. For general leisure clothing I just use the iron/steam function on my dryer which works but only if its not full.

At work I have hi-vis which I'd never run through my own washing machine and I get them washed and ironed with the laundrette.

We have an ironing pile that we either take an item out of when we can’t find it in our wardrobe or we do it in one go…more often it’s the former for the last few months.

We probably have clothes in the pile that we’ve not worn for ages
