I know someone who trains hard to get his holiday bod.

He's strict on himself and goes to the gym regularly.

The results are worth it for him.

Nope! You'd get much better results if you stick to eating healthily (says the lover of bread and pastries ).

It's much more about being confident and comfortable in your own skin rather than looking slim.

Up to you but I don’t bother anymore. Always people fatter than me there and nobody bats an eyelid.

Diets, unless suggested by medical professionals for specific health conditions, are pointless. Look up an intermittent fasting and I can assure you won’t need any diet.

A crash diet, no. But if it's booked in advance and someone wants to, I don't see the harm in a few diet and exercise changes done in a healthy way. Nothing extreme

Food is fuel, less of the bad stuff. Be more active. Low and slow is better long term

Plan what you want to achieve and how you are going to do it.

You body is a reflection of what you have done to it over the past several months. You can change it - it will just take consistent focus for (quite) a bit longer than a crash diet.

your wildest dreams,

My understanding is that crash diets rarely give lasting results so why bother doing it twice. If you’re going to lose weight do it properly and do it once.

As for “diet for holidays”

Personally don’t understand that. Why would you only want to be the best you, you can be for 2 weeks a year. Isn’t it something you want long term.

Back to the first point, goals are great, but do the job once and don’t sweat it if you’re not there by your hols, you’ve already achieved loads

"Crash diet before holidays! Yes or no?? "

When I bothered, I just gymed in colder winter months. Not to look good for summer but they were usually more empty, cooler, and in the summer you could do what you liked without sweating even thinking about gyming

I usually cut way down on carbs for a month or so before I go on holiday, and that does the trick. Then I put it all back on again once away

When you’re on holiday, buy everyone else loads of beer and cream cakes.

They’ll all think you’re a great guy and you’ll look slimmer when you stand next to them, it’s a win-win!

Oh, and you won’t have to diet! Win-win-win

No, there's no point in crash diets. Everyone I know who's been on them is as miserable as sin and puts all the weight back on.

Go on holiday, enjoy your food and go back to sensible eating afterwards

No. Any weight you "lose" is likely just to be water and short lived, and you'll be miserable to boot by starving yourself.

I'm afraid slow and steady is the only way with sustainable weight loss. The best 'diets' don't feel like diets.

There are the heart disease diets that were designed for people to drop significant weight before surgery. I have known women drop 8lbs on a week on them. Some put it straight back on, some women continued to do it three days a week to keep the weight stable. I'm not advocating it before someone jumps on it, just sharing what I have seen women use successfully in the past.

If you're attending a WeightWatchers™ convention or a SlimFast™ symposium then yes, otherwise there's no need.
