Fancy dress inspiration

Epsom

I’ve been invited to a fancy dress party in November, so have time to prepare. The theme is Idols and icons

Any suggestions as to what to go as?

I’d like an outfit that is practical to go to the toilets, nothing worse than a jumpsuit when d*unk

Years ago I saw a lass go as a vet and she had wellies on, while I was strutting around in heels… wish I had thought of that!

Something I won’t get too hot in, something like a carebear or cat woman I will end up being a sweaty mess!

Any ideas suggestion? All vanilla suggestions as it’s a birthday party

Thanks xx

Daphnee or Velma from Scooby Doo. Easy enough to do custume wise. Practical for the bathroom and you could make it a bit naughty if you wanted too.

White tights, a white swimsuit, and a (new) scrubbing brush strapped to the back of your head, so the bristles show above your head...

...and...voilà...

...you're a tooth brush!

A beachbum, hippy look and claim you've gone as bone idle and misread the invite.

"Monroe"

Yes, I've seen a photo of Munroe's famous white dress made up of white bin bags. It seems to have been positioned and taped up in situ. So at the end, I guess it's disposable.

I case it helps, the best fancy dress shop in London is Mad World near Old Street station. Their stuff is amazingly high quality and the range is huge. You're bound to get some inspiration there.

I would think about iconic outfits from the movies maybe... As some have suggested Marilyn Monroe already either the white dress or the pink satin number, pretty woman - sex worker outfit or the fancy dress, gi Jane/Lara croft - combats and boots. Breakfast at Tiffany's? Little black dress, Dorothy Wizard of Oz, Sharon Stone - basic instinct

Is it a fancy dress where you’re going to be judged, if so, be careful, I went as a tart and a compare wanted to see what I was wearing under my dress, and it was filmed on the big screen behind, I was wearing suspenders, but unfortunately a pair of see-through wife’s knickers, I did win the bottle of whiskey
