Yes, read it on the news stand in the paper shop this morning.

A good age and as others have said , like him or loathe, he certainly lived a life.

To be honest I was surprised he was still alive , thought he must have popped his clogs before now.

Would have been better to report it at the time, but that doesn’t work for many for a multitude of reasons.

Why do you ask a question that is very veiled ?

Why should people not be surprised ?

What's the thinking behind your question?

I don’t get though he did wrong, he sold harrods, so why are they liable now for the compensation?

Yes they should have a duty of care, but surely that was under the last ownership.?

This is an old thread.

I wish someone would have started their own if they want to bring the current situation to people's attention.

It looks like I started it and I don't do the gratuitous salacious stuff.....

I have pretty strong opinions on it and they are not really suitable for a forum like this.

He died over a year ago ..... Yes he had a massive fortune but he used it charitably.

I had a certain amount of admiration for him and it's sad that he is now going to be dragged through the media and the courts and tarnished after death.

He was cleared in a court of law.

Sorry to derail the thread and I'm not defending anyone but he was never actually convicted ( Michael Jackson) obviously doesn't mean he's innocent but saying he's something that he has been cleared of could get you into legal problems.

And just remember he still has children alive who are probably pretty sick of reading this kind of thing.

Being charitable doesn't mean he was a decent person. We all know of cases where there's no doubt now that a person committed heinous acts against others, but also performed charitable work in their lifetime.

And so he should! It’s another example of rich and powerful men using their wealth and status to think they can get away with sexually abusing and harassing people for their own gratification. No amount of donations to a dogs home a hospital or any other institution should mask the years of trauma some of these individuals have had to suffer. It is a shame he did not have to stand up in a court of law and face his crimes.

Yes. Back in the "good old days", when certain celebrities were abusing children and women, victims were simply ignored or ridiculed or plainly told they're lying, when they reported the abuse. Reporting abuse always leads to the abuse being dealt with, of course *tongue firmly in cheek*

While ownership may have changed, the company is the same. Because it’s the same legal entity, and because the offences were by an officer of the company against employees, they are liable.

The real question will be if other employees were tasked with enabling him to offend. This story could go on for a bit.

The allegations against Michael Jackson are very suspect. If you really look into the case, and don't just look at newspaper headlines.

Especially regarding the main drivers of the allegations and the powerful people Jackson had fallen out with in the Music Industry.

Not really tangible evidence but enough to say for certain he did it. Like Savile, Epstein, possibly Diddy but it hasn’t happened.

"No good crying over spilt milk.."

But some people are left with continuing problems, rather than them having just had something that happened in the past. Some women have attempted suicide, many have damaged employment records and relationships that are harmed. If you've lost your daughter or seen the damage left on those who you love and care for, you understand that some hurt is potentially lifelong, including for lives that are cruelly cut too short. This isn't just from the harm of one man but potentially from many people who have hurt others.
