I don't chat anymore as I'm not meeting anyone new at present and I found even when I have told people this at the very start (it's also on my profile ) and they ask can we just chat instead,once you do it usually only takes a few messages in before they decide well now we exchanged a few messages they are entitled to me meeting them. So after that happened numerous times I cannot be bothered chatting anymore.

I chat in private to several people. There's no ulterior motive my end and I don't think there is their end either.

They are interesting people, with stories and life experience to share, and I enjoy talking to them. To be honest, with no pressure to talk about sex, you can relax and just talk about other things.

I think that's very true. Understandable as well. It should be fairly obvious though that if the profile says A, and their private messages say A, they're one-dimensional and focussed on one thing. No judgement on that.

If their profile says A, but they chat about B,C,D,E and every other letter, they are multi-dimensional and more interesting, in my book.

Some are shy and let their profile do the talking, and only answer about A when asked.

So long as folks are happy, that's what matters, IMHO.

Because sometimes the person wanting to chat is not someone they feel they’d like to chat with, maybe a badly written profile, don’t like the profile pics, maybe they created a bad thread on the forum and that’s put people off whatever the reason it’s completely up to them and should be respected

Chit chat is essential, if people can't do that, then they go in the bin.

I am a bit of a chatty Cathy though. Usually about things you wouldn't quite expect, given where we are.
