Massive Damon Albarn fan and adore Blur but with the release of Cracker Island, Gorillaz are just edging it now

Blur for me. Gorillaz first album is an all-timer, but the later stuff hasn’t grabbed me the same way. Whereas Blur’s greatest hits have aged like fine wine.

Blur!

When Graham left to do his own thing, I saw his first solo gig in Camden. Pre- gig I did a wee next to him (tiny venue, no backstage toilet); and mid set Damon appeared, and he used my shoulder to steady himself while moshing like a man POSSESSED. Best night of my life :D

They’re very different live, I saw Blur at a warm up gig recently and it was bonkers, lads on lager, kids on whizz and darlings on ch4rlie all came together for that party.

But Gorillaz live with the full orchestra was something else, went way beyond just the music, their visuals were incredible and a way more immersive gig than just bouncing around to Parklife!
