Maybe he's resigned ahead of fresh allegations of getting one of his cardinals to take some speeding points.

That's God tied up for the day then sorting out his P45 and final BACS payment... He had lieu time accrued for working Christmas as well, so old popeys pay packet will be loaded! Can't blame him for quitting, but left Catholicism in the shit what with Easter being early this year.... Still, he may work 'freelance', who knows.

I hope they install the new one with a big enough pair of balls to accept culpability for all the church-led atrocities that have come to light in recent years and to make sure those who are guilty face the courts with the full condemnation of his church..

I’d also like to see whoever gets his job to have a modern-day attitude contraception and abortion….!.

I think this statement from Joe ratzinger says it all "In today's world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith."

The internet has questioned and enlightened the world towards religion like never before. Hopefully the demise of these silly failth's that have de-humanised and destroyed so many will be bad chapter in the history of mankind.

Few funny comments and few in bad taste.

Long and short is that Religion has been instrumental in shaping the world. Quite often in a negative way, but quite often in a positive way. Yes there is a dark past to Catholicism, but surely focusing on a brighter future is more important?

Many people will be indifferent to the news, but it is newsworthy.

Ps no I'm not Catholic !

A bright future? I struggle to comprehend an organisation that puts itself above the welfare of children in it's care.

It should have all it's buildings raised to the ground and all it's priests jailed as they are all complicit if they continue to do nothing to stop what has been going on for centuries.

So all the Christian aid across the world is negative ? Don't confuse the infrastructure with the goodwill of many. Besides what exactly does modern day Britain promote aside from self indulgence ? Atheist or believer, Christian values promote kindness and better ways. Why do so many feel such ways are something to ridicule ?

The pope does have his own confessor.

I imagine it will now be a similar situation as if he'd died - though slightly less pressure since they still have a sitting pope.

Wonder if he gets to vote as part of the college of cardinals?

Ah ok… thanks ,,, that’s explains that,,,,,,,

But here’s a thing,,,, ?

So if the Pope give a confession to his confessor which contains something so controversial that the confessor feels overwhelmingly compelled to confess his knowledge of this deed to admonish himself from contrition ….

Who’s he gonna call…. Pope-busters?

Oh btw,,,Yeah your right ,,,, the Scarlet would be more in keeping with the amount of time I spend on the bottom….

"I hope they install the new one with a big enough pair of balls to accept culpability for all the church-led atrocities that have come to light in recent years and to make sure those who are guilty face the courts with the full condemnation of his church..

I’d also like to see whoever gets his job to have a modern-day attitude contraception and abortion….!.

"

The Catholic Church has never paid a PAPAL Pension before.

Wonder if its index linked though.

Does he get free lodgings in the Vatican to go with it.

So many questions, makes you wonder how long they actually thought an 85 year old was going to carry on though.

"BBC,,,, reporting unconfirmed claims the Pope has handed his notice in!!!"

Im not catholic and dont concern myself with whats happening at the top so to speak.I will say tho....

This pope doesnt seem to do much....The one before him was out and about and seemed a nice guy....this one seems to have been hiding himself away most of the time. so maybe its a good idea if he goes.
