Yes I started getting it checked annually about two years ago.

Doctor just puts a rubbered finger up your bum while you lie on your side. No big deal and you can leave with peace of mind..

Absolutely nothing to it, takes about 5 seconds to do. Had mine checked last week - by a female doctor as it goes

I had mine checked for the first time about a month ago. Absolutely nothing to it, she was in and out in seconds. Get it done for the peace of mind mate

Just look at the Dr's hands. If they are like a pianist, you're fine, if they're like Andre the Giant it's like a train coming off the tracks in a tiny village, everyone surviving but in the mayhem, fire, ambulance, police, national guard and lifeboats are called in.

No issues mate, took me long to drop climb into couch and drop shorts than it did for the Dr to slide a digit in.

Rather that every so often than ignore having it done amd face much worse issues if there is something that goes ignored and causes major health issues later.

Prevention better than cure.

Is it offered at a certain age a bit like a mammogram? Or is it something you request?

"Is it offered at a certain age a bit like a mammogram? Or is it something you request?"

Sort of both. Some doctors just forget to bring it up. But yes it should be checked more often at a certain age

You should only be worried if he says "Look, no hands!"

Only wondering as my dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer . We pretty much dragged him to the docs as he was going to the loo so often! (For a wee). He didn’t want to go and I’m wondering if he’s refused the check in the past

The doctor might say it’s ok to have an erection during exam. I suggest to clarify if he means yours or his erection

You can also request a PSA test. Some docs resist requests (cost) but you can insist. A guy I work with has just been diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer and he only found out because someone in the same situation had advised him to get a PSA test. Both have have become evangelical about getting the tests, as you might imagine. All people with prostate glands who are over 50.
