"Luis has been suspended, I bet he regrets it now Despite the Spanish FA calling Jenni a lying cow They’re trying to suggest that it all is Jenni’s fault Despite it being clear that she suffered sexual assault It really is a shame, that Luis fucked it up As nobody is actually talking about winning the fucking Cup" Who is the judge and jury here ? they were hugging ,,he kissed her , she says she didn’t like it and didn’t consent. Her arms were around him , did he consent to that ? Surely if she says she’s been sexually assaulted it’s a police and courts matter to determine guilt ?

"I'm going to quote this in every recurring thread (yes there has been at least 2 already).... I've been spending a lot of time with young men lately (throughout their 20's mainly), a number of who are really into Andrew Tate. Those ones really, really admire him. Tate being the wild conspiracy theorist who made his money from grooming vulnerable young women for his webcam business (ie by coercing them into it - only to find that even supposedly 'looser' Romania now has its own laws relating to that) and who charged 50 dollars a month for 'masculinity lessons' to aspirational young males that included lessons like "Grab, slap, ch*ke, shut up b*tch - sex." (it's all on audio/video record of course - he did this). The idea that men can just take ownership of women's bodies *in any way* is totally unacceptable. When men like this lay their unwanted hands on each other, it's either called bullying or it's called war. But when they do it to women it's now too-often part of some lazy-minded political ('anti-woke') backlash that's entirely spurious in conception. Yes these men see themselves as 'heroes' (or 'protectors' in the case of women) of masculinity. Rubiales just wouldn't properly apologise or resign (he decided to pretend it was pre-arranged instead - and of course women are ALWAYS duplicitous in these matters aren't they?), and he will see himself as a hero for certain. And to many young men today sadly, that is what he'll be. "When will the woman own up to lying about her agreement?" is the kind of question those kids would ask about Hermoso. Despite only a few percent of expected r*pes-even (forget assaults) going to court, those kids are convinced - largely because of Tate and of course because of "I don't even wait" Trump - that there is genuinely a global epidemic of spiteful women attacking innocent men in this area - all to the tune where the statistics are pretty-much reversed (ie over 90% of the the most serious cases are viewed by them as conspired by women, and are not down to aggressive males at all). It's incredibly hard for women to see any kind of justice in an area that is actually increasing over modern times (even if the recompense is just to recognise it happening and help slow it down). The time it has taken for FIFA to suspend this guy is ultimately evidence of that horrible fact, regardless of it being over this particular level of enactment. It's been news for a reason, people. Stop being so paranoid and cynical of every damn thing that isn't gammon fried on gammon fried on gammon. Sorry for coming on so strong, but it's supposed to be 2023 and I just cannot see how people can remotely excuse this kind of stuff. Let's get rid! pt"

My point of view is that dealing with men's- at home and in the workplace - perception of women and working toward an understanding, a definition of and great reduction of sexual assault is more important issue than a game of football. That people want to sweep it away because it is getting in the way of them enjoying sport demonstrates how engrained misogyny is in our cultures and is precisely the reason this should not be let go of.

P was bought to.treat women with respect and as equal we think so many boys have not been and continue to not be bought up that way, and that is not just the what parents do but life as a whole.

So are you saying it's ok for him to kiss her full on the lips because she kissed the trophy? " I’m not saying it’s ok because she kissed the trophy. I’m saying this is another part of the world and there are cultural differences. Even Hermoso has described it as “natural”. From aljazeera: [Hermoso] later downplayed the incident in a statement released by the federation, saying it was “a totally spontaneous mutual gesture because of the immense joy that winning a World Cup brings”. “The president and I have a great relationship. His behaviour with all of us has been outstanding and it was a natural gesture of affection and gratitude,” she added, according to the federation statement. I don’t think we, as Brits, have any right imposing our own cultures and standards on others. We tried colonization once already and it failed What I don’t like is how he has made clear that he’s only apologizing because he’s been made to. He should just apologise. It’s like anything controversial. He shouldn’t be strung up for doing it but now that he has and it wasn’t well received: he needs to accept it, apologize and move on

"The statement came from the Federation and was not given by Hermoso The statement was given by Hermoso and published by the federation. If you have any evidence to say otherwise then I’m happy to look at it My view is the Spanish are entitled to their culture and we have no right to act as though ours is superior Seems like the Spanish women want the so called Culture to change. Cultures do change and if it will then it will. My point is we’re looking through the lens of a culture where this already wouldn’t be acceptable and would be seen as sexual. They aren’t and see it as affectionate. Two very different situations Listen to Spanish news reports. Watch the protests by Spanish people. to They do not find it acceptable. It is NOT a Spanish cultural norm to hold women firmly by the head so they must take your kiss. It is a custom to greet certain people with air kisses, one to each cheek. " This ^^^^^

"FFS, Rubiales pretended Hermoso was lying and that she was happy with him doing it. That is slander. And he has a record of bad behaviour! And he pulled his crotch in the game! He had to go! It's utterly gross that FIFA waited so long for him to do the right thing, when he was clearly a political coward pretending that the woman/women are a) untrustworthy and b) woke etc etc. I hate this climate of far right cowardice. But from what I could see, she went in for a hug and was happy to do so. But where did she show him that it was OK to grab her and kiss her and then slap her body as she walked away? Sometimes people look fine in uncomfortable situations, that doesn't mean they are happy about it. A man followed me for 45 minutes once trying to get me into his car. I politely smiled the whole time because I didn't know what else to do and I was terrified. The smile on my face doesn't mean I was enjoying it.

" I appreciate the example you gave for yourself that does sound scary but we are talking about a 3 second exchange by two people who love football in Spain where shows of affection like this take place she cuddled him and kissed him and you are saying in the space of that 3 seconds she consented to the cuddle but not the kiss? The statement she made that i quoted said she was ok with it, its all media hype as it always is thats why i have no time for the media anymore but you carry on with whatever this is but in my eyes its all blown out of all proportion and totally ruined the celebration of national football and winning a world cup

"It is very easy to look up Jenni Hermoso's full statement. It's very long so I won't quote it here. It was released by FUTPRO the players Union. "In reference to what happened today. While it is true that I do not want to interfere with the multiple legal processes underway, I feel obliged to denounce that the words of Mr. Luis Rubiales explaining the unfortunate incident are categorically false and part of the manipulative culture that he has generated. I clarify that at no time did the conversation to which Mr. Luis Rubiales referred take place and that, far from it, his kiss was consensual. In the same way, I would like to reiterate, as I did at the time, that this was not to my liking."" https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/aug/25/i-felt-the-victim-of-aggression-a-sexist-act-jenni-hermosos-statement-in-full (This is a translation)

The media lie or misalign the truth don't forget. Its in Spain where shows of affection in 3 second intervals in celebration of an historic world cup win involve kissing and hugging cmon put some sense to this granny 'assault' really, one report says she was ok with it and another doesn't, which is fairly typical of the press and the media

Yes I have seen the vids and read all reports that there are and seen shots of him otherwise engaged in being 'handy' with women. ( a woman ) " Well thats fair comment but I'm not talking about other incidents just the 3 second vid with the cuddle and the kiss, it also says that they Hermoso and Rubiales had a good relationship

"Very very pathetic a dcsums how stupid this world is. He shouldn't have done it, he apologized, end of the matter. He held her head, he is also abusing his position and therefore he is pathetic " So what if he held her head? It’s very clearly non-sexual and is a standard form celebration that we’ve all seen a million times before in football. At most he should be told to be more aware that not everyone likes to celebrate like that. He should say sorry for making her uncomfortable. That’s it.

"I have a question.. I hugged a colleague goodbye yesterday. He's flying quite far, and most likely for good (SE Asia). I'm sure it looked exactly like you would imagine it. I'm not sure how tactile he is, but of course he felt some emotion too and took it in good grace. So if he was a women, would he have been "cuddling" me? pt " He is not your boss. What is wrong with people! pt" Hi. Totally agree with you. Also seen reports his mate VILDA gropping breasts last Sunday too. He needs to be struck off.

So I could *just* about understand the 'different culture' if they were indeed from different cultures. But she, a Spanish woman, has said she didn't like it and it was inappropriate, and she's probably a better judge on Spanish culture than you or me (with my apologies if you're Spanish). We obviously have no idea what the impact on her is - I agree it may not have a lasting impact, but is that the arbiter of appropriate behaviour now? I'm sure there are many fans he can celebrate with though who aren't me too's If were simply talking about the incident I saw I can see why most people "in real life" are going to be defending him. Celebrities/sports people won't if there scared of being cancelled. Again, potentially destroying their lives." JFC

Other people who think it's horrible: The entire Spanish women's team resigned FIFA (suspended him) The Lionesses Xavi Hernadez, Barcelona coach Real Betis players Isco & Iglesias Athletico Madrid and Milan teams And players and teams from around the world Do you get it now? "British men are different to Spanish men, of course. Not serious unless permanent mental scars are involved? She said she didn't like it after the event. I think it should be a private conversation/warning first. If he does it again he'd be looking for trouble. I also think if she got mental scars from that she'd end up committing suicide in the average day a person lives. " Perhaps she was stunned in the moment and didn't know how to react? Perhaps she didn't want to cause a scene on the world stage? Perhaps it took time to process? I don't know. And neither do you. I think that's the point - we have to take her at her word, and not dismiss her as a "Me Too" (which I thought was pretty crass by the way). Like I say, I doubt she'll have 'permanent scars', but my point was that should not be the measure. (Incidentally, I expect she's mentally tougher than most, as a lot of elite athletes tend to be to teach the top). He could have saved a lot of fuss if he'd accepted he was wrong and apologised rather than doubling down.
