Depends on the type of scar, there are many such as

Normal fine-line scars. A minor wound like a cut will usually heal to leave a red, raised line.

Keloid scars. A keloid scar is an overgrowth of tissue that occurs when too much collagen is produced at the site of the wound.

Hypertrophic scars.

Pitted or sunken scars.

Scar contractures.

Every scar has a story to tell. I’ve had 4 keyhole ops on one of my knees and unless it’s v hot or v cold they don’t really show. But when they do because they’re almost symmetrical both sides of the knee I tell my niece and nephew it’s from where a shark bit me and I fought it off with ja flip flop

This shocked me. I'm really sorry to read this. I can't imagine at all what kind of feelings and emotions come with that. It's a trauma. And I'm guessing the scars remind you of that trauma and that's why you'd like them gone. I want to say this to you as it helped me and maybe it will help you. Maybe it won't at all. But I read somewhere about how tattoos can be a way of reclaiming your body back, not sure if you're someone that even likes tattoos and maybe the needle is totally the wrong thing. But I love the sentiment of reclaiming your body back after it's altered or subjected to trauma. But rather than making the scars fade can you possibly find a way to reclaim your body back even with the scars still present? A tattoo may be one way but maybe there are others. If the scars are somewhere you can hide them with a single item and you are then left with the rest of your body to be as free as you like?

Thankyou for your kind words. Unfortunately mine are keloid scars so they are really hideous. They affect my daily life, because it covers a fair part of my body I cannot wear certain clothes, actually a lot of clothes tbh.

I agree with owning them. I have them, I don't show them off but I embrace them and that they are there.

I do have the advantage of them being easy to hide when I don't want them seen, and they are quite faded as is, but they are very obviously there to the touch.

Mine don't tell a particular good story but I can't hide them due to where they are. But they remind me that things aren't that bad anymore.

All scars mean something.
