If you’ve been blocked

Further to the thread ‘Ever changed your mind’ about blocking/unblocking I’d like to know that if you’ve even been blocked would you like to know why?

For me,if anyone has blocked me then I’d like to know why because then I could then not make the same mistakes again (if that makes sense)

I’ve only ever come across one person who blocked me but they’re not on here anymore I don’t think. I wouldn’t need to know though. It’s just strangers on the internet. I know I’m a bit marmite so I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a few more who have blocked me!

I've found out I'm blocked by playing some of the games on here and realising I couldn't message someone.

Don't really care why they've blocked me and I don't need to know their reasons - pointless asking when I've no intention of changing based on any feedback received.

If it was someone I'd met and spent time with that would be entirely different.

I'm curious as to why. Depends the context of the blocking. More so if the chat had been good and then from nowhere I'm blocked.

However if it's a random block from a random person, I don't give it a second thought.

But I don't lose sleep over not knowing.

Yes it makes perfect sense it would be nice when you have been blocked by someone that you can click on something that gives you a reason for why it has happened so that you know exactly what you have done wrong.

This ^^^ because I probably won’t know what I’ve done to warrant it. If it’s explained than I can rectify my actions so it doesn’t happen again

I don’t think it necessarily that you’ve done something wrong. I block loads. If they live close, if I’m not interested, if they’re not interested, if their pics make me . There’s so many reasons. People shouldn’t take it personally.

I think if someone I was talking to and thought it was going well suddenly blocked me, I would prefer to know why.

But for most, if it's obvious to one or the other of us that we're incompatible, then I just take a block as meaning that's been established and if I have no investment in the person it's no skin off my nose.

Your post makes sense but my answer is NO -

I do not want to know why I'm blocked. In fact there is no way of knowing. Very many may have me blocked.

Some block everyone of a certain age.

Some block those without pictures

Some block someone for saying something they don't agree with in the forums.

Am I going to find out they disagreed with me and change my beliefs ?? No.

No,I just figure we're not for them and that's fine.

Blocking is a good tool on here & I think people do get really offended when people use it.

I haven't often seen we've been blocked ,but if we're not compatible with someone then no problem.

We block if we have no intention of meeting that person or people. Or we don't meet their criteria. It clears up the search process, it isn't anything personal.

We don’t mind why people block us.

We use block as a filter. Sometimes we unblock. Mostly if we see or read something that we definitely don’t like - straight in block list, saves looking at it again

I don't care if people block me tbh. If it stops them messaging me then its a plus to me.

Though one time in the Irish forums their was an argument about married or attached here on fab in secret. One woman who was obviously here without her partners knowledge was trying to get her point across. I supported her view and sent a follow up message to discover she blocked me. Oddly she lapped up the attention from the men about her situation but was ignoring the ladies support. Go figure

i realized quite a few years ago now that the block button is a great tool and it makes my profile so much easier to run ..

the problem people on here have is that its all negative if your blocked and its really not its like the swinging scene as a whole its run on choice / rejection ...

i block for many many reasons not all bad for sure ... but its simple im here to meet and im not really interested in anything else..

if someone is not happy ive blocked them thats really not my problem ... the block button is a effective and simple tool ..and no one should have to explanie why they have blocked someone

I was blocked by a couple the other day, I sent them a really well written message, quoting things they wanted to know, added some face pictures of myself, Fabbed a few of their pics.

I'm not even sure if my message was read, the next time I looked I was blocked.

I'm used to it now, but it would be nice to know sometimes what the reason is, as this couple and myself, judging by our profiles, would of been well matched.

It's not about ugliness, if someone isn't attractive to another. Most people are not mutually compatible with most other people and this will include physical matching. You only need to know that you don't need to expend further energy on them.

For me, life is too short to worry about why someone has blocked me. It could be for exactly the same reasons that I use the 'block' function, i.e. if it's someone I recognise from real life espec. work environment; or if it's someone I'm not interested in. I generally don't see the block function as a negative thing, unless it's a pesky male who doesn't take no for an answer

Browsing through the forums every now and then I’ll click on a user and notice I’ve been randomly blocked.

Most of the time I have no idea why, I’ve mostly never interacted with any of them but while it would be *interesting* to know why, it doesn’t really bother me.

They have their reasons, they either think I’m an arse or some other valid reason, and at the end of the day we were never going to be compatible so I’ve lost nothing!

I wouldn’t worry about it tbh .. it is what it is.

I won’t lose sleep over anyone blocking us People block for all sorts of reasons .

We only ever use our block as a extra filter for people we have chatted to and for whatever reason we are not compatible it just saves us messaging them in the future..We’re getting older now so our memories are not as good

..I always find it amusing when I see people on posts shouting blocked at whoever has a difference of opinion to them..

I’m not really bothered about the reason why strangers over the internet have blocked us ..

I honestly couldn't care less why people have blocked me.

It is obviously related to my forum comments because I haven't sent a first contact message in 3½ years and haven't had a private conversation here in a very long time.

It could be that they don't like my profile or don't think we are compatible but either way it doesn't bother me.

One thing I have noticed though is strategic blocking where certain people who have been so annoyed over the actions of others that they go ballistic in private messages but refuse to block the offender so as not to give them the satisfaction of knowing how upset they are.

I can only assume they missed the hot list button and haven't realized.

Why else block me. Other than the fact I'm a dick of course.

My block list is huge.

Personally i don't really care if i get blocked. Nor do i care what others think when i block them.

I'm only going to know if someone from the forums has bloked me and that'll be for something I've posted that they disagree with or I've offended their delicate sensibilities with my honesty.

Thing is, we can't view each others profiles but they can still read my words and still be offended. So, what's the point? *much needed shrug emoji*

"Further to the thread ‘Ever changed your mind’ about blocking/unblocking I’d like to know that if you’ve even been blocked would you like to know why?

For me,if anyone has blocked me then I’d like to know why because then I could then not make the same mistakes again (if that makes sense)

How would you know you were blocked? Do you get a message or something?

Thanks

MrsAbz

If you click on their profile or try to PM them the site tells you.

Oh thanks, I don't really send messages etc.

Guess I'll never know if I'm blocked.

MrsAbz "

That's one way if looking at it. Lol

Even if I knew the reason why I was blocked, it wouldn’t change anything because I’m not gonna change who I am if it’s a case of someone disagreeing with me etc.

Side note though, I got a message the other day saying I looked like their cousin and then they blocked me before I could look at the profile

Reasons why are a double edged sword, the psychological need to know for "closure" is as likely to lead to a negative result when you find out why. People need to learn to let things go.

I genuinely don’t give it a second thought and don’t even have any hard feelings towards anyone who blocks me, I block plenty myself.

I've blocked so many people I've lost count.

Sometimes it's down to their political views or prejudices, but often it's because there's zero interest and I don't want them showing up in my search results.

We believe if someone blocks you after you have sent a face pic etc that you just ain’t for them so we live on.

However we do find it amusing when we have sent face pics been chatting for a while then BOOM a block in place when setting up a meet or when the chat has been nice with no reason too recieve a block.

But again we just think oh well move forward

I only really notice if I'm blocked by someone on the forums because I always check profiles before replying to someone or replying to their thread, if I'm blocked I don't interact with them on the forums, it doesn't bother me if I am blocked I'm not interested in why they have blocked me, I really don't care or give it a second thought.

If someone was to block us C'est la vie and move on. It clearly doesn't bode well for future relations anyways.

I couldn’t care less who blocks me or why. That’s their prerogative, as it is mine. I block frequently for many reasons; often for something minor, sometimes as a preventative if I know I would have no interest in engaging with that person. It’s a great filter tool.

You can get blocked for just sending a message. Seriously. It’s a polite no.
