I hate everything about holidays. Too hot. Swim up bars people weeing in. Crap beer. Crap wine. Warmed up food. Queuing in airports. Bites. Shit entertainment. Tipping. Sun lotion needed. People talking to you. Lying by a pool as it’s “relaxing”…..

Trips to see….things you don’t care about.

Eating without uk tv.

Watching footy at wrong times

Can’t sleep.

Telling work mates you had a great time.

Needing time off when you get back!!!

It’s Feckin shite!!!!!!!

Sounds to me like you’re going on the wrong type of holidays for you OP!! Maybe try something a little more active like a safari or a trek.

Personally I love everything about holidays

I think you’re doing holidays all wrong because that’s nothing like my holiday experiences, the only

one I agree with is queuing at airports but I just find it a bit annoying, it doesn’t ruin my holiday. I had to queue for hours at the airport when I went away recently, I was with some mates and we had 2 options….spend the whole time moaning about it and getting more and more frustrated or not stress over it, have a laugh, enjoy spending time with friends and not being at work….so we did the latter.

Most of the other ones are just down to you choosing to go to the wrong places, if you don’t like hot weather don’t go somewhere hot, research what the local food and drink is like before you book to go somewhere, if you have to go on a trip to see something you don’t care about because someone you’re on holiday with really wants to see it then just try and enjoy it, talk to people, have a laugh, it’s got to be better than being at work.

I think what you’re doing here is seeing the negative in everything…basically you’re on holiday, you’re not at work so even a bad pint and warmed up food is better than being at work surely.

I know that mental health is a serious issue and there are people who have no control over their moods but i think there are a lot of people who intentionally make themselves miserable by seeing the bad in everything and making no effort to enjoy themselves. I used to worry a lot about things I had no control over and things that have already happened until I realised that doing that is completely pointless and, over time, I trained myself to stop doing it….my life has been way better since. I’m sure that some people could train themselves to stop looking for the bad in things and focus on the good, to stop making bad situations worse by constantly moaning and getting frustrated and start trying to make the most of any situation.

If I never went away again, it wouldn't bother me.

People come back and whitter on about this and that....have you seen ?...I just Google it or watch a YT vid and I know all I need.

It seems its mostly men who feel like this.

When I am away I do enjoy it, and I try my best to not spoil it for others, but let's be honest, if our weather was like Spain, most would not go either.

I think you need to explain this to the family, and find some sort of comprises over your destinations. You go where they want so they’re happy, at the cost of being miserable?

That’s pretty shit.

I get where you’re coming from Jim and I agree to some extent but you are describing, in the main describing package holidays designed, marketed and sold to the great unwashed.

The thought of a tower block hotel full of families and kids on the all inclusive option fills me with a sense of anxiety. But such sojourns have a place in the holiday market the trick is to avoid them and seek out some serenity and culture. Enjoy the change in scenery and embrace the local ways.

Here ...

My family like to sit by the pool and sunbathe so I go and do the things I like ... sometimes they join me ... sometimes not.

However, when I talk about holidays I have a lot more holiday memories than they do.

You don't all have to do the same things together everyday ... so make the holiday what you want it to be !

No…. Go somewhere decent and buy lounge key to avoid queues . Leave her by the pool a few days and hire a jeep or motorbike , I find swim up bars and beaches a bit boring after an hour but if she likes it then you should do a bit of it. Then stick her on the back of the bike and head into the mountains

The only holidays I have are spa holidays...heaven on earth...no sunbathing. No drinking crap local drinks. No watching rubbish entertainment.

Possibly Netflix in-between treatments..

Lots of massage (orgasmic for Me)

Other holistic treatments

Power showers (orgasmic)

Always relaxing totally spaced out..sleep like a log.

Get home feeling amazing and looking incredible.

All over

They are certainly jot what used to be. Overpriced and underdelivering. Also unless very careful where you go, full of peoplevwho thing it's ok to spoil it for everyone else as long as they and their families have a good time and that usually starts at the airport. Having said that mostvof us need a break from time to time and ejoy the kind of holiday we like. It is just getting a lot more difficult to source though than used yo be.

Never heard of swim up bar until I read this thread but they sound ideal for keeping the kind of people who like that sort of thing in one place.

Best plan is not to take holidays. Just go somewhere you like and do what you like doing.
