Can you still see the best in people or has life made you hard and cynical?

I am more cynical now, but in general I still like people and try to see the best.

I see both. I'm open to anyone being able to have good in them, and me like them.

I'm cynical through experience. But I'm not blinded by it. Anyone and everyone is welcome to change my view of them, for better or worse.

I generally don't like people regardless though. I'm a fussy fucker and very selective of those I take to and bring close.

I’m indifferent to most people so don’t see good or bad in them, more a take them as I find them and align (or not!) myself with that

I get this. Maybe it’s a case of not investing in people who aren’t worth our time or energy

It's so difficult, even good people have done shitty things, I guess its how much you value that person and want them in your life. To whether you can overlook their shoddy behaviour and start anew. Generally I'm too cynical and keeping them at arms length, is the best place for me

Thought I was a good judge of character but definitely more cautious now . Shame the chancers have to spoil it for genuine people

I was deeply cynical, but I think that just attracted negativity! I seem to be happier now seeing the good in people where possible. But I think there is a difference between that and naivety, which hopefully I'm not dropping into .

I used to be optimistic about people. But too many people I thought I knew well turned out to be anything but decent. Now I don’t trust my judgement, make little effort to get to know people, assume the worst, and keep most folk at arms length. Sad really. I never used to be this way.

It depends. I try to see the best in everyone. Sometimes that's harder than others.

However even when some people have given me reason to see them negatively I still hold on to the hope they are good

There are very few people I trust now. Where Fab is concerned . Being honest even less. Perhaps being older single male or just male ? . Some expect you to comply with their wants . Then they wonder why I do not respond straight away. ? .

No it hasn't. Perhaps it should have by now but no. If anything it's renewed my intent to try and see the good in people. To ignore the negativity and focus more on the positives.

A few of my friends think a healthy dose of cynicism wouldn't go amiss with me. Maybe that's true. I think I'd rather remain optimistic, a tad cautious but in the end hopeful. For others. In people as a whole.

I do struggle to allow people too close to me/to stay there but that's not down to cynicism.

I'm possibly rather daft though, maybe I should be a tad cynical.

I just refuse to be cynical no matter what happens to me. I won’t let my own or others mistakes impact my relationships with others, that’s the emotional equivalent of self harm

If I was to go by what I read on here everyone’s a cynic.

I see the good in people usually. Some things I won’t look past but mostly I think people are good.

If Anne Frank could, in 1944, write that she still believed people were still truly good at heart, i feel like I should be a better, more open, trusting person than I am.

I'm not naive and I go by actions not words, I stand back and observe before I make decisions about people if I can. I err on the side of cynicism

On here & similar places, I'm very cynical. I've been treated like crap too many times to be anything else. Most people are on Fab to get what they want. That often means not really caring about the other person.

IRL I try to see the good in people. And find it.
