.

Do you think that's true?

Is that true for you and how you are day to day?

the abyss

I think it is true if many people.

It is definitely not true for myself though. I think you have to have a certain level of confidence and conviction of your choices

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

It is true for me, to a point.

Sometimes I want to, but I don't have the spoons. Or the money. Or the low enough pain level at the time. But if I want to make something happen (and I know the other person does to... because, y'know, fear of rejection not just about sex stuff), I will do all I can to make it so.

Sometimes, life really does get in the way, and seeing someone in person just isn't plausible regardless of how much you want to.

But, you can always make sure that someone knows you care. And choosing not to do so just because you can't get your rocks off immediately is when that sort of phrase comes in.

That too.

And the conviction and confidence thing Cede said

Totally agree - if someone wants to they will and if they don't they wont.

Yep 100%

If I fob or he does, then I know we are not compatible, not really, no matter how much we kid ourselves that we might be

I don't know. There's lots of things I wanted to do (by things I mean guys) but my brain always stops me.

The question is too abstract (maybe on purpose?), so I'll answer in broad terms.

If it's something I have full control over - yes, most likely.

If not, then I'll try, but can't make any statements as to the probability of it happening.

Travelling

If they want to they will, eventually, so long as the means are there to do so.

Its not always as simple as want.

I wouldn't have the tolerance for it

I didn't know you knew our teenage daughter...yes most definitely! She's such a confident go-getter and lives her life to the full.

We worry ourselves such a lot about her but we don't want to hold her back from living her best life.

As parents all we can do is guide and advise and pick up the pieces if things go wrong.

Not in my case. Over-thinking, a lack of confidence and being an introvert have definitely made me miss opportunities of various kinds down the years.

I was going to say this. Sometimes, people just aren’t able to.

You may find it easy to walk along a cliff top with a hundred foot drop to the rocks and crashing seas below, but others really can’t. It’s the same for emotional matters sometimes.

Unfortunately it’s difficult to know if someone can’t or just doesn’t want to without knowing them very well.

Actions speak louder than words but as others have said there can be barriers that sometimes get in the way

Sometimes you need that little extra effort to make things happen

Nah not for me. If I’m warned of something I would probably take the advice of close friends/ partners

If you want to, but can't or won't, is it best not to tell the other person that you want to?
