I used to be such a people pleaser, and I still kinda am in a way.

But I’ve had to really make an effort to remember that everyone else will be putting themselves first, so sometimes I need to do that too.

And there’s nothing wrong with communicating what you need/want

Now then Pickles. It depends on the level of hurt... if I'm burnt out and need a break and the person would just get the hump, I'm doing it.

If there were deeper levels then I'd have a serious conversation with them first, so we can move forward together x

It’s inevitable someone has to go first, it’s also inevitable someone will be upset at not being first - whose upset is more important? To me, mine is, to them, theirs is - I’m not a martyr & certainly wouldn’t get any thanks for being one so yes, more than happy to put myself first if the need arises

Well. It depends is a cop-out, but it really does. I've got better over the years as I've realised that if I'm not healthy, I can't be the wife/mother/employee/friend I want to be. Sometimes it's short term pain for long term gain.

I'm more okay with it the older I get. Most people aren't hurt when you put yourselves first, they are just bothered that their needs aren't met which in itself is putting theirselves first. I spent too many years being other people's rock, now all that's left is a shell and I need to take care of that.

Think have wasted most of my life trying to please others and not succeeding and also not knowing what pleases me.

In a weird way it is currently keeping me going as it pleases others to have me around

I'm pretty rubbish. My childhood involved looking out for or after adults and it's become imprinted upon me to look after everyone else first. As I approach my fourth decade, I am trying to change that.

I'm so similar. I always put others first . But now I realise I'm so important
