I was listening to the radio this morning and heard that sir Keir Starmer thinks the lionesses should be honoured for their achievements.

What are peoples thoughts on having an honour system at all and secondly what people might be honoured for and thirdly what benefits might it bring?

Like being granted the freedom of the village which means you cam drive your sheep over the village common

I think the honours system should be abolished, they give it all out too freely and end up with all these bloody sirs and dames with their expected airs and graces. What's wrong with just a plain old thank you and and a certificate

The way they are dishing out honours at the present time it can only be a couple of years before sending off 48 Weetabix box tops would get you a gong of some sort.

I do not think the womens football team should be be rewarded with an honour after all they did not win, I would be of the same opinion if it was the mens team.

It should only be for people who did amazing work in the community, for supporting the disadvantaged or protecting the country and it's citizens from great harm and above and beyond duty. Not for doing the normal job

I don’t think it carries any relevance any more. I always thought it was supposed to be for public service over and above that expected. Now it’s just a badge/gimmick.

I’ve always been a massive fan of Lewis Hamilton, but when he was knighted I remember thinking at the time ‘the kid was awarded a £1m contract whilst still at secondary school, which has only ever increased since. Is the salary of Disneyfied proportions inadequate?’

I think the women’s football team are inspirational, but ultimately, they got paid to travel the world, to come in second, doing something that they love doing. That should be enough in my eyes.

They used to give out honours for real achievement,Hillary's climb of Everest,Claire Francis for sailing single handed round the world.Now it's for nothing.Victoria Beckham for "services" to fashion?,her business hasn't made a penny profit.what next,a knighthood for the postman for doing the job he is paid to,delivering the mail?

I'm not a fan of sports personalities being honoured for doing their job.

Sports stars who quietly go about their business whilst working for charities, different story. But an honour for doing well at what other people take up as a hobby?

Why doesn't Granny Crumpet get an OBE for contribution to forum life for example?
