Could you date someone who is messy?

Jump to newest

By *hagTonight OP   Man

From the land of haribos.

I could and I dont mind it because I am a bit messy myself, well not so messy. I have sometimes few things laying around that kind of thing, but not too much, to be honest. I like it to be a bit messy, to have few things here and there.

What about you, could you date someone who is messy and how is your home?

No I couldn't, I like a tidy house ...but a dirty mind.

They'd end up in one of the plots I've already dug out under the patio.

Yes I could! On the other hand not someone who is completely opposite! I go on holiday with my sister every year and she is a clean freak even on holiday! She did suggest that maybe I could go live with her in our twilight years! (I'm in mine lol) but I said as much as I love u I couldn't live 24/7 with u lol x we are complete opposites in every way! As I say love her dearly! I'm what she would consider messy! I think I'm mediocre clean but lived in kinda house love all my toot! X

I think I would agree to an extend and personally I like a tidy one though there are always things you have to prooritise in life. On the other hand there are a lot of free spitited and happy people, and I have a few friends like that, who don't pay much attention to a particularly tidy home but are great people and have perfectly 'tidy' lives, just not a particularly tidy home. Untidy of course does not mean unclean

Depends as there's different levels of messy. If its a thing where most of a women's house is mostly tidy but her room has a few clutter around then its fine but if its messy all over then no.

In fact the first thing I check when I go to their house is the bathroom as it gives me an indication on how tidy there are

Are you a fab home checker.

Out of curiosity if my bathroom is clean you think I am a tidy person?

If it is not.. Then what?

Considering you not seen my bathroom or anything.

Are we judging homes now before we jump into bed?

No. I find it difficult enough clearing up after my son and dogs.

I want to go somewhere that I can relax and feel peaceful; not be constantly feeling like I should tidy up.

I know some people are super busy, but living on your own there shouldn't be much mess.

People with children, I'm not pointing the finger at you.

Hygiene is quite important to me, again a house doesnt have to be spotless but has to be some level of tidyness. Just to give you an example I met a girl (not on here) at her house and her place was already untidy but what really kill it for me was her bathroom where there was a lot of hair around the floor, bathtub and even toilet. So while I did have sex with her I didnt stay the night as I made up an excuse and didnt see her after

That's my house, without the sand etc.

Mine is my son's trainers, work boot, tools, materials and general crap all taking up space in my rooms.

As soon as I clear somewhere he finds something to put in the space. Golf clubs, gardening equipment, laundry baskets. I honestly don't know how he accumulates so much stuff.

He had the cheek to complain about a couple of bags of books and costumes in the gym room he never uses.

I gave up.

I have kids, I can’t live in a totally clean house…teens think the floor is the place for anything. Same with a car.

So whilst I’m clean and tidy, my house and car do have some messy bits at times.

If that was the only stress in your life then I’m doing ok.

Exactly this, if a bit of mess was my biggest worry I'd be elated. After tidying up it can take about 0.5 seconds for a child to undo it all.

I think anyone stressed about a few messy things lying around would be far too upright for me anyway.

This. My sister in law was absolutely fastidious re tidying. Even with two toddlers. I felt the kids were looked after but not in the right way - there’s no way you can invest loads into cleaning etc AND be there/present for your kids emotionally. She’d be a nervous wreck almost waiting for me to finish my cuppa so she could clean up

No. I have done before and hated it.

Clothes strewn all over the floor, rubbish not discarded, clutter and unorganized paperwork all over every available shelf and surface, various items left all over the bed that they couldn't be asked to put away properly...

Some would argue that maybe their priorities are just different and they would rather "enjoy life rather than spend time cleaning", but from my own personal experience, it was just laziness and it made my life harder trying to complete tasks AROUND the mess, or having to clean up their mess so I can do something that needs doing.

I like things tidy and organised and I get stressed around mess because I feel it's something that can only escalate...
