"So I'm currently in hospital feeling very sorry for myself. I have quinsy and severe tonsillitis that has spread to my neck glands. The pain is unbelievable. Has anyone had this before? Please tell me this is going to get better. If you've had it, how long did it take you to recover? They said I'm probably having surgery tomorrow " No tonsils myself..... Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Come to think of it I haven't had tonsillitis since being hospitalised with quinsy (about 15 years ago) and I used to get it twice a year. Mr H

Yes they said incision and drainage but not having my tonsils out for a couple of months apparently as it's not just Quinsy, my entire tonsil is covered in infection with tonsillitis and they don't want it to get in my bloodstream

"My daughter had this last year, had the incision and drainage done with only a local injection of anaesthetic as an emergency in A & E - after she'd been left for 5 hours severely dehydrated before they even put her on a drip She was sore and weak for a few days and it was about 3 days before she could open her jaw properly, fatigued for a couple of weeks. Oddly, she had never experienced tonsillitis before the incident - or since. Best of luck with your recovery." Thank you
