I see a lot of threads on here with people complaining about being too old to message someone due to their profile limits..

..very rarely see people wanting to message someone but they were too young! Has it happened to you before?

My age range is quite strict (even though now all ages should be able to message). In my experience (and please note it is MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE) most younger men are shit at this sex game. They may have all the talk but the walk has been very much an issue. Therefore, I prefer the somewhat more mature men. Women- I get hardly any luck so don't mind. But I guess closer to my age would be more on the same wavelength.

Age isn't just a number to many it is quite significant even though unlikely to admit it.

A lot of us have kids, use the term losely, i their late 20s and 30s also have kids of their own. The idea of meeting people the age of my own kids is a put off.

Sure there are many ladies/couples that feel the same way. Think guys its diferent they care little about age. Happy to meet younger fabbers. Seen many times in chat older guys trying to hit on 20+s and even bragging about it.

Truth is i think the wonens fab sweet spot for guys is 35-55. Just my thoughts

I've had a few women unable to message me because they were below my age filters.

A few used their couples profile to get in touch because their partner was much older and that bypassed the filter.

One took it a few steps further and contacted people I'd verified and asked them to persuade me to contact them.

When she was told to feck off she started a thread in my name in the hope I would respond positively.

I had no intention of ever doing so but it seemed like a hell of a lot of effort for nothing.

I find I connect more with a lady older than myself

But not so many prefer the younger guys

Has it?! The number of people with 28 as their lower limit (not even a round number like 30, though them too) is too high! It's probably massive confirmation bias on my part but I swear fab is purposefully showing me such profiles

I knew it, I knew someone in this thread would match my description - it's not all in my head! There's also enough numbers such that this is not a consequence of the pigeonhole principle. There is systematic discrimination against the under-28s

It happens to me quite often being 24 and all. And I totally respect people have boundaries and preferences, but I always find that going to clubs or being social and meeting people allows you to show you’re maturity so that people are quite so put off by it.

But obviously people still say no and that’s fine, but I’d say how you come across in person is much more important.

Yeah, if it's a function of your age, that's probably better than some I've seen, where it's 28-x and the range looks arbitrary - like they've made their profile to spite me!

We have a rough age limit we'd like to meet but our message filters aren't restricted, we'll happily chat to anyone outside them as we're open to being flexible with them for the right person/people.

Obviously women are far more picky as we never seem to be out of the age limit of most single men but for couples and single women we are often too old.

That is strange because we have never had that problem with people we meet in clubs?

Yesterday I couldn't connect with someone I met at a social because I had everyone blocked and they had everyone that was as old as me blocked.

But that was just from the social side of things.

Whilst I have connected with guys significantly younger than I thought I wanted I haven't gone looking for them because they were young.

Yet.

We've said no to people from out of our preferred age range, both younger and older.

Often both will respond with a comment about their age and experience and the likes, assuming our reason of choice.

I'll explain that we have interest from several within our choosing and so we'll obviously look to them firstly.

I can understand how it can be frustrating, and we too have been outside of anothers age preference.

But we're all here for ourselves, if it isn't age that's the issue, it could be something else.

All the damn time! That’s not the worst part though. I’m often told that I look quite older than I actually am (I’m at the age where I still consider this a compliment

) when I send face pictures or just by my general demeanour when messaging, so things will be going really well until the other party notices my age and then all hope of things going anywhere disappears as I’m too young for them. Age is literally the only limiting factor in those cases.

It used to frustrate me but there’s literally nothing I can do about it apart from lie about my age which I don’t want to do so I’ve just come to accept it as part of being on this site.
