So on the back of Bruceys thread it always drives me crazy to see a bloke say I like a C cup or D cup because it means literally zilch.

But also the amount of women wearing the incorrect btw sizes is crazy!

Previous wearing a 36B until I measured myself properly (boob or bust) and I'm actually a 30FF which fits amazingly despite my doubts.

So I'm curious how many men actually know anything about tit sizes and how many women have tried the boob or bust measuring calculator and how far off where you?

I know almost nothing, but I don’t need to know either and there’s no point trying to blag it.

I do know that getting ones that fit properly makes a huge difference and who wouldn’t want someone they care about to be as comfortable as possible?

The boob or bust calculator asks for dress size. Who the heck knows their dress size? All shops are different.

I'll try it later and put different dress sizes in.

Yep. C and D cup is the generic go to for men when talking about bra size.

B cup if they prefer smaller women.

I don't think men really know how it works.

I had to use BoB recently - ordered new lingerie thinking oh I know my size, I'll sister size and get a 42HH. I can fit my whole fist behind it, even on the tightest band. Anyway, I've gone on and found out my correct size. My face was very much this .

In a good way.

Next to nothing but the actual boobsize has little to do with the bra size is it the widtb of the back which determines the size.might to talking complete nonsense.

I'm a 42 G in bra size, the calculator suggests a 42 HH but my saggy spaniel ears tits, don't fill a H nicely, let alone one cup size up, so I'd say the BoB cup calculator is slightly flawed in that sense, the back measurement was spot on

I've just tried the BoB measurement.

I don't think I agree with it at all.

Particularly the band size. A 28 is going to give my all sorts of problems.

I tried again and it said a 30. I'm pretty sure that's wrong!

Go to a good shop like Bravissimo, you would be surprised. My guess for you would have been 28 or 30 band with probably a G cup. So if you think it's wrong it's worth trying some actual bras.

The best way to buy a bra is to try them on. I've been to Bravissimo and Debenhams who both had properly trained fitters. They understood that just because the measuring tape said a certain size it didn't mean a particular bra in that size would fit and would bring different sizes to try and that some styles wouldn't fit properly on some women.

The number is the size your body under your breasts, the letter is the size of your breasts. Hence 32DD look bigger than 40A. But as with any item of clothing just because the label says a size it doesn't mean it will fit you properly and there's no harm trying a size up or down.

You have big boobs. A small band size I reckon. But a bigger cup size. And they stock from D cup upwards so your current size would be catered for if it's correct.

I'm definitely in the wrong bra size. I wear a 36/38 DD most of the time but now my boobs aren't as full and as I've lost weight there is usually a gap in the cup and it doesn't look or feel right but I'm lost wear to go.

I've done the boob or bust but it says 30H or 30HH and that doesn't seem right to me at all, not to mention impossible to find nice bras that are affordable in that size I can imagine. I think it’s because my tits are saggy so when I'm measuring them something is going wrong somewhere?

Pretty much like you… for years I wore a 40D, done my BoB sizing and almost fell off the chair when it came up saying a 38H! I was pretty adamant I wasn’t, but under duress I picked one up whilst out shopping and all the way to the changing room was saying to myself that my head would fit better then my tits in the cups!

Let’s just say I had to eat my own words!

The old swoop and scoop meant I filled that bad boy perfectly and must say that my boobs have never looked better since wearing the correct size… all breast tissue where it should be in the front and not down the sides! Lol

The back band will feel tight but the difference in support is amazing. Big cup bras are expensive though You would need to try them on ideally. The back band needs to do up but feel quite tight. The bit in the middle between your boobs needs to lie flat. Your boobs should be fully in the cup. If the fabric is wrinkling you go down a cup size. If you have "double boob" effect you need to go up cup size/s.

I went from thinking I was an E cup to a G cup.

You definitely appear to be a larger cup size than your wearing and a lower band size, it would be a great place to get measured, you bust looks larger than mine and mine is a 30FF sister size 32E I like better in certain styles.

All I know (which is probably incorrect because I am a man and I don't need to worry about this) is there is band size an underbust size and a letter I have totally no idea how all this is algortyhmed. It's probably right. You are most definitely NOT a D or DD cup, nor a 36 or 38 back. I wear a 36" and I'm way bigger than you back-wise.

"The best way to buy a bra is to try them on.

Very much agree about trying them on. Even bra sizes are different these days. Different styles, different manufacturers. "

Totally agree with this, Primark are the worse I have 3x 36 band bras each measure between 30- 38 not one actually is a 36

Many men have no idea about bra sizes because it doesn't usually matter... Cal buys for me based on what I'm wearing at the time.

What is a concern is the number of women wearing ill fitting bras, because they don't know how one should fit.

I was taught how to fit a bra many years ago when working for Littlewoods as a teenager.

It was emphasised that the measurement was just a starting point.

As others have said, different brands and styles fit differently and work with different breast shapes.

I'm normally a 36F/G but have a balcony bra in a 34E cup that fits lovely.

Question: are bra sizes consistent? I mean, if you usually take a 32 C, will that be the case with every manufacturer?

Or are sizes all over the place like dress sizes, where a 12 in one shop is completely different to a 12 in the shop next door?

"The last time I got m&s to measure me they had a real problem working out what size and I ended up sticking with what I have which is a 38E. 40DD in some styles also fits me boob or bust reckons I'm a 34j/jj which I doubt

That's my size if that's any help at all to you "

Hmm maybe I need to try and find a 34j to try on, then again maybe I'm best off not knowing. Don't want to replace all my bras again. Gets expensive lol

They vary, some places like m&s still do the old +4 from the band size to give a cup size, obviously every woman isn't 4" bigger over the bust, most reputable places are generally more upto date but stil vary a little.

Doesn't it just, but there's places like bra stop and belle lingerie where you can buy past seasons bra cheaper than this season's styles.

Sadly, yes they are inconsistent. Though less so in good quality brands, in my experience. It gets harder the larger cup size you need.

I'll try it later and put different dress sizes in.

It's more so that it will flag up if you're measurement is way off. E.g. A size 10 saying their band size is 36 "

I've got a small ribcage to be fair. Try it makes a huge difference to my posture and how dresses and tops fit my boobs. And bonus I look like I have more of a waist. Bravissimo is pretty decent for sizing too if you rather get measured. Just don't to M&S and their plus 4.

Boobs or Bust has some interesting measuring methods, made me laugh! It gave me a 32GG. Yes I could fit into a 32 band but like a poster above said it's too tight and with long wear quite uncomfortable.

As for the cups, I'm wondering if BoB formula expects a denser breast than mine (mine are heavy but not so full right now). FTR the ribcage-bust difference I measured was 8", don't think this warrants a GG.

I also suspect that in an effort to rectify the "brand too loose, cups too small" malady, BoB like bravissimo tend to overcorrect the other way.

For daily wear, I now only wear soft, non wired bras from Pour Moi. Honestly, they give more than enough support and are super soft and comfortable. I agonised over non wired and soft cups but I don't get nipple-age and I think I look just as good in the soft ones in my day to day clothing (mainly dresses for work) as I did in restrictive, uncomfortable wired ones.

For everyday wear for larger boobs, Molke do a style called Flexi. It's non-wired, has loads of hooks on the back so you can sister-size easily. It's not the most attractive but it is so flipping comfy!

What's the nipple test?"

Basically the nipple test is where you bend over at the waist topless and see where abouts your nipples point.

If your nipples point to your body or feet then you’re full on top so shorter cup bras like demi cups or balconette bras should be better.

If they point straight down then they are even shaped so any bra style would work.

If they point forward towards your head then they are fuller at the bottom then balconette styles work better.
