Is not old

I heard on the wireless the other day that middle age used to be classed as 41 but it has now been changed to 53!

Jennie was over the moon

Seriously tho, I had my kids very young and I’m now 41 with freedom, life experience, enough energy to do fun things and funds to do them with.

Did those of you who have reached level 40 dread it and think it was all downhill thereafter? Or are you like me and loving the ride?

I dreaded 40, but was less unhappy with 50 this year. Maybe that's because I've discovered my freedom in the last 3 years & I'm living my best life, with less hang-ups than I had 10 years ago.

Don't get me wrong, aging isn't fun but I've embraced who I am, the good, the bad & the ugly bits!!

Being serious, I'd say anything from 40 to about 50 is middle aged nowadays.

You are literally middle. Aged. Ignore it being pushed up to appeal to the general ageing population.

I don't know how I'm going to feel when I'm middle aged. I don't think it will all be downhill because I've read from a lot of the old dears on here that their libido increases and they have a great sex life in their forties.

I'm hoping this thread keeps me hopeful for my impending older years.

My teenage years were non existent as were the entirety of my 40s.

I've never celebrated any landmark birthday or seen any significant changes when slipping from one decade to the next until I turned 50.

That was more about circumstances than reaching another milestone and while I can't say I'm loving it, the last eight years have been a rollercoaster.

We are both 40 and truthfully it’s crazy because we don’t feel it in many respects. Unsure whether we look it or not, but that’s not for us to say.

It’s bad to admit this, but another couple contacted us the other day. They were around our age (from memory 42/43) and it took a moment to remember that we are similar and in fact they’re not “too old!”

That makes sense to be fair with the quality of living and medical advanced that have raised the average age of death, and outlr knowledge of our bodies and nutrition can allow us to feel younger for longer too.

Glad I'm now about 25 years away from being middle age

I’m 43 and loving it, I feel hotter than ever despite being larger than my usual size. Feel utterly comfortable in my own skin, silver fox with my grays now highlights to my natural hair colour rather than hiding them and my fine lines around my eyes I find endearing. I hardly ever wear makeup, have never done any type of cosmetic alterations and I’m so glad as I feel beautiful right here right now.

Being in my 40s is so far my favourite era

Depends. We work with people in their 20’s who act and come across older but then know people in their 50’s who just give off that young vibe. Depends on person to person.

"Let me get over turning 30 soon first

30 is not that bad really. You just have to remember it's a 3 and not a 2!"

But I don’t want it to be a 3! I’m just going to pretend it’s not happening.

I'd say 40's is middled aged.

I didn't dread turning 40, I did 30 though.

We had covid and lockdowns and all that fun stuff most of my 40s so it wasn't the best.

Definetley had way more fun in my 30s.

Jennie was over the moon

Seriously tho, I had my kids very young and I’m now 41 with freedom, life experience, enough energy to do fun things and funds to do them with.

Did those of you who have reached level 40 dread it and think it was all downhill thereafter? Or are you like me and loving the ride?"

I hit 40, had learnt no life skills and had to learn from the ground up, had to learn about myself, how to have relationships with people as well as the hard task of learning to have one with myself.

Go through some deep fundamental changes around myself.

Do a shitload of work on myself that left me feeling even more worthless about myself.

Go through loads of feelings of guilt, shame, regret, and remorse.

However, as negative as all that sounds, it's the most postive, rewarding, and enriching. Thing that I have been through.

As I'm now content within myself, the world around me, im confident in relationships and my life is of value, and I no longer trade my values, standards and morals any more. Embrace the change amd trust thr process i was told, and that's what I did

I didn't dread it, per se, but then I wasn't exactly enamoured by the prospect either. It was the same for my 30th, and I'm guessing it'll be the same for my 50th too, but I'm hoping I'm wrong and it'll be a great milestone for a change "

Fingers crossed for you

I’ll start again.

I was pretty relaxed about the whole middle age thing until I hit 50 this year.

I have still very young children and I suddenly feel the impending doom of my own mortality. This is a new thing for me.

The good part is I am convinced the best part of my life hasn’t even started yet.

"Is not old

I heard on the wireless the other day that middle age used to be classed as 41 but it has now been changed to 53!

Jennie was over the moon

Seriously tho, I had my kids very young and I’m now 41 with freedom, life experience, enough energy to do fun things and funds to do them with.

Did those of you who have reached level 40 dread it and think it was all downhill thereafter? Or are you like me and loving the ride?"

Absolutely loving level 42.

Never felt more content, or happier in my life. Even the shit days are good now.

This ride and the rides just keep getting better and better.

Embrace the change amd trust thr process i was told, and that's what I did "

Can I get a link to this TED talk? 100% would watch it. This is far to life affirming to be on fab.

I wish I were 40 again.

SomewhereOnlyWeKnow

I was looking forward to it but 40 to early mid 42ish was a bag of proverbial shite for me, relationship breakdown, made homeless was just the tip of the iceberg. Mid 42 perked up, got our forever home and met him (even though that wasn't planned and it snuck up on me).

Looking forward to what the second half of my 40s brings as its a complete turnaround, newly qualified in a new job role alongside my existing and I finally feel life is good and my happy is back

"I’m 43 and loving it, I feel hotter than ever despite being larger than my usual size.

Being in my 40s is so far my favourite era "

You look absolutely stunning, such a gorgeous figure.

"I’ll start again.

I was pretty relaxed about the whole middle age thing until I hit 50 this year.

I have still very young children and I suddenly feel the impending doom of my own mortality. This is a new thing for me.

The good part is I am convinced the best part of my life hasn’t even started yet.

50?!?! That was you I met on Saturday right? I thought you were 30!! "

I bloody love you Chicken!

Honestly I’m not at all convinced you’re 50, have you checked your birth certificate?
