A staple of my Saturday night viewing with my mom & dad. I recall a few of his interviews: Rod Hill & Emu, Mohammed Ali, Kenneth Williams & George Michael.

He had a great ability to bring out the real people in stars.

Duncan Jones tweeted a couple of years ago about a 2002 Bowie interview

"What i loved about the Parkinson’s interview is that on any other interview, i could see the mask. A performance disguising the person underneath.

This was pure dad. Utterly him."

"That was his life".

He loved interviewing Dame Edna or sitting there whilst enjoying the ride. Worth watching again on You Tube. RIP.

somewhere

Those were the days when you learned more about the guest than you did about the presenter

All the Hollywood greats that appeared and were fantastic to watch and listen too

Good old Parkie. I remember seeing his chat show when I was a kid. The end of an era.

I think you might be thinking of her interview with Russel Harty, who she attacked.

Peter Kay and Billy Collonny were amongst my favourite guests on his show.

Remember reading his autobiography and the bit about his grandad taking his mother back to Yorkshire for his birth so he qualified to play cricket for Yorkshire.

Rest in peace Parky. A towering professional. Hard to think of anyone in even the same league.

Yawn. That's been doing its rounds all day.

Dam right disrespectful.

Sad to hear, only just caught up with the news.

I think his Muhammad Ali interviews were legendary, some good banter between them and a reciprocal respect.
