Do you have these about certain people?

Particularly those on the forums or people you chat with that you've not met yet?

Does that make you more or less nervous when it comes to actually meeting them?

Do you worry that you won't be as they expect or that they will be different?

Have you ever been pleasantly surprised?

Yes, I have preconceived ideas, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. These mental images are the inner workings of my curiosity, intrigue and vivid imagination - a precursor of sorts on how they will 'look' in real life if or when we meet; how they will accept me and to what extent I will live up to their expectations. (if they happen to have any expectations of me!)

I am always pleasantly surprised because I'm (mostly/humbly) received favourably. There are some real gems in the fab cosmos.

When you chat to someone for a long time it’s difficult to not paint a picture of what they’re like in your head.

I’m always worried that I won’t live up to the expectations others may have of me. I’d hate for them to be disappointed.

Oh I'm under no doubt that others will have ideas about me, right or wrong. I guess I do too about them.

Not nervous. I just expect it.

Not worth worrying over, they have their own view and chances are the real thing will disappoint.

Pleasantly surprised more often than not yes.

Yes I have had preconceived ideas about people from the forums and meeting them at socials is sometimes a nice surprise or sometimes exactly as imagined.

Mostly though I don’t care what anyone from the forums think about me on here or real life because I feel secure enough and loved enough.

I'll give you the best 30 seconds of your life if you tell me your preconception of us and by the best 30 seconds, I mean 30 seconds worth of unlimited McDonalds hash browns

Wherever

I’m not fixated on looks so I usually have an idea about the person before I even meet them and I can easily say I have never been disappointed and very rarely wrong about them as a person.

On the other way round, I am always worried if I’ll live up to their expectations, even if I’m exactly the same person online as I am in real life (but I do have an ordinarily standard look).

"Do you have these about certain people?

I try not to but sometimes? Yes, I do. It's more a general feel rather than a crystal clear image.

"Does that make you more or less nervous when it comes to actually meeting them?"

Nervous? Erm sometimes a little bit. Only if I think they might be potentially someone I could fancy on meeting.

"Do you worry that you won't be as they expect or that they will be different?"

Again, sometimes. It depends on how invested I am in a person - the majority I'm bordering on indifference.

Those I like? Or those I think I might like to kiss?

Yes. Only because sometimes my self doubt creeps in/is reinforced and I think gosh, no. People wouldn't want to spend time with me. I'm rather intense at times. Prone to talking a lot or not at all.

I'm not for everyone but then again I wouldn't want to be.

"Have you ever been pleasantly surprised?"

Yes. Very happily so. People are so much more interesting and far better in person than some words on a screen. I love meeting people and learning those little quirks that make them them. Seeing their eyes light up. Hearing them talk excitedly about something.

I've only ever had people say to me:

"Why haven't you got long dark hair, I swear you do in your pictures"!

None of my pictures suggest i have long hair.

Everyone does naturally I think?

However I don't assume anyone is a piece of shit here at all. Even if they post some desperate/weird/crazy things.

I assume some are competitive though

Think everyone has preconceptions to some degree we can't help it. People see what they want to see, worse turn a blind eye. People want to appeal to others and try and control others perception of themselves.

I do have preconceptions about you lot. Yes. Hopefully the more I talk to someone the clearer and more accurate those expectations become.

I think it’s important to make the distinction that I don’t mean expectations of them being into me, or up for doing anything particular. I just mean expectations of what they’re like as a person.

Rather than preconceptions, I’d maybe just call it getting to know someone.

I think it's natural to form notions of what others are like. But they are dynamically reviewed and I don't place much concern etc, with them.

If I'm meeting someone one to one my preconceived idea of them is usually pretty accurate because we will have been chatting for weeks before meeting.

I have met people at socials that don't look anything like I imagined but then again I'd never engaged with them directly prior to meeting so my image was the result of their profile pics.

I have preconceptions of others I have never met or would want to meet just through their forum contributions.

I know some people have a particular image of me as a person because they have told me.

Most are convinced that my inbox is full while the reality is I've had about 4 or 5 messages in total this year.

They are surprised that I'm not chatting to half the site or am active in various social groups while in fact I'm not currently chatting to anyone on or off site apart from my fab bestie and I'm not in any chatgroups.

I don't drink or smoke which has led some forumites to tell me I'm boring but those that know me can testify otherwise.

I'm not the most social person in regards to dominating conversations but I'm more than comfortable holding my own with anyone.

I've only ever been surprised once when meeting someone and that was because the first words out of their mouth before saying hello were to ask me if I was nervous meeting her?

That told me all I needed to know about her own self perception and she has gone on to reinforce it many times since.
