"Until this stops, I can't leave the house, because I'm bleeding through everything and anything. I have tranexamic acid to take to see if that slows it down, but why is it okay to expect us not to go out to work or to the shops because of this? I had to take a taxi to the hospital today because I'm too light headed to drive and despite changing everything before I left, could feel it starting to flood whilst in the car. Good job it didn't go on the taxi seats " God, you poor thing!

Lots of trying to explain peri menopause and anovulatory cycles to me, all of which are totally irrelevant when I have (or am supposed to have) zero menstrual cycle. I'm on an injection that should induce 100% ovarian shutdown.

"I think I was lucky with my consultant then. I didn't have a choice to not have a hysterectomy though. Do they check your iron levels?" Yes. I am "mildly" anaemic, despite being on OTC iron supplements. I did ask about prescribed iron and was advised to speak to my GP.

Please, ask for a trans vaginal ultrasound and CT, if you have not done so already looking for a turbo-ovarian abscess. I had the same symptoms and nearly died three years ago because I was told it’s my coil because I kept coming up negative on STi panels. After much indignation and refusing to move they admitted her and finally worked it out. It shouldn't be as hard as it is for women to get a proper diagnosis

I really hope you are feeling a little bit better lovely. And to answer your original OP womens health is a fucking disgrace. Time and time again we are all fobbed off with excuses and lack of care or attention. Mostly because men fuck the entire system / world up and do everything to suit themselves. "I'm an affected Haemophilia carrier (my son has Severe typeA Haemophilia )so my clotting levels are below normal and my periods are horrific and have been since I was 12 (I thought they were normal until my son was diagnosed at 8 months old when I was 21). I was stuck in the shower for half an hour earlier passing golf ball sized clots. Tranexamic acid does help me manage but doesn't bring my period down to anywhere near that of what would be considered normal.I still have to wear a super duper tampon and pad together and change hourly. Thats as good as I can get it for the first 3 days.I have thought about paying privately for a hysterectomy. People underestimate how debilitating extremely heavy periods are. I struggle to work and train etc. I hear you " It's utterly horrific and so sorry to hear you have such difficulty with your periods. Totally understand where you're coming from with giant clots etc Have you been "offered" a hysterectomy on the NHS? Sounds like you should be.... Private is so immensely expensive, isn't it?

The waiting time is a year or more in most places, it seems, but you might be higher priority with the haemophilia situation. You never know.

"Yea I should raise it with my son's Haemophilia Centre in Cardiff really. No harm in asking I guess. It's just this mentality that periods are normal and women shouldn't make a fuss etc that kind of just makes me just put up with it I suppose. You know how it is xx" Yeah, I know how it is. I'm so keen to have the hysterectomy done now, so sick of it. The menopause jab was working well for the first few months, so it's even more of a kick in the ovaries that it's suddenly gone so far backwards

"The only thing that worked for me was Prostap - a prostate cancer injection - every 28 days for 18 months & HRT. Then I finally got a much needed total hysterectomy. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 19 only after taking my poor dad to my Gynae appointments & him pushing for investigations on my behalf. I only felt I was listened to when I had a man with me which is so fucking wrong!!! Have you thought about contacting your MP? They hold more sway in these situations which again is wrong! Failing that, I’ll come to you it next appointment & give them hell- you / all women deserve better J xx" ProStap is what I've been on since February....... I had 2 3-month jabs, one at the start of May and the most recent at the end of July. Now this. It's supposed to be stopping my bleeding completely but this is actually the worst it's ever been. And the clinic who give the injections are uncontactable outside of the jab appointments. I have tried to get advice from them but no-one picks up or answers email. My next appointment with them is in October!

It was £78 a go 5 years ago. Can you ask for the 28 day one? Have they put you in HRT too? I take Tibelone J x

They said to continue without HRT for now and they'll do a DEXA scan in January. But I can't blame the HRT for this, and in retrospect, maybe it was the 3 month ProStap depot that caused May/June's bleeding, not HRT? I'll definitely ask about trying the 28 day one in October, when this is up for renewal. I can't go on like this

My experience of making complaints is similar. One practice made it my fault that their phlebotomy room was too small (door frame) for my bog standard manual wheelchair to fit through, so I had to accept having a blood test in a corridor. My fault apparently.

"To update on this, the emergency people I saw yesterday advised me to contact my regular consultant (at a different hospital) for urgent attention. It's gone something like this: 08:45 - start phoning, clinics apparently start from 08:30 but gave them time for tea and a wee first. 08:45 - 10:00 - rang multiple times, eventually someone answered. Didn't listen to a word I said and was incapable of taking down my name properly. Said she'd look into it and ask someone to get back to me eventually. 11:00 - GP phone appointment to ask for iron, he says he'll "try" to contact the consultant too, but "they will give him the same response as they gave me." 12:00 - hospital phones. Person says they have no name, just a DOB. I repeat my name three times using the phonetic alphabet, but still they use the letter 'M' instead of 'N' and I start to get cross. I give my NHS number from a recent letter. They "find" me on the system. No apologies for completely fucking up my incredibly short and straightforward name. Person says they'll "pass my issue on". 15:20 - email from consultants secretary. "Dr. X has asked us to make you a face to face appointment in the next 2-3 weeks." Nothing about how to manage the flooding in the meantime. No guidance or advice. The last time this consultant ordered an appointment within the next 2-3 weeks, it was scheduled two MONTHS later. It was requested in June and took place in August. I give up. I've sent someone to collect my iron. Still bleeding profusely, despite tranexemic acid " Oh that's ridiculous seriously. How the hell can someone have a job if they can't take down your name correctly?

" Oh, Super Shy That's absolutely fucking horrific, I'm so SO sorry that happened to you. I'm probably asking a stupid question, but did your complaint get anywhere? My complaints were handled by the practice manager who turned them back on me. I didn't complain that time I left running out crying. Sounds about right. My experience of making complaints is similar. One practice made it my fault that their phlebotomy room was too small (door frame) for my bog standard manual wheelchair to fit through, so I had to accept having a blood test in a corridor. My fault apparently. " I got told someone else's test results once, I stopped the doctor once he said 'It's as we expected, and I've informed your consultant and you'll talk about chemo.....' I said stop, what?, I have ear infection, He called me by the persons name and I said errrrrr no I'm ****** and he 'oh well let's look at your ear. I said no I'll book with another doctor. Went to reception to complain and she said to tell her what about, I said not in public area, I'll fill in the form and she refused to give me it so I said the doc has just given me someone else's test results The people in reception area started to approach and say who did he think you was... all with worried looks. I said I'm not saying. The practise manager said it was my fault for not announcing myself when I entered the docs room. I said they buzzed me in with my name on the screen so they were expecting Me.

"To update on this, the emergency people I saw yesterday advised me to contact my regular consultant (at a different hospital) for urgent attention. Ditto on my surname which, whilst unusual, is also short and very easy to spell. Whoever took the first call decided they couldn't comprehend my name, wrote down my DOB and phone number and something about ProStap and that was it. Then the second person continued to get my name wrong after further spelling it out over and over.

" I got chastised by the practice manager because I put into writing the complaint about the door access issue. In her reply to me, she wrote something like "it's disappointing you felt the need to formalise this issue, we thought you'd dealt with it when you raised it verbally on the day [in the open waiting room because there was nowhere fucking wheelchair accessible to go privately!]” The cheek of them, really.

" No offense your name is relatively easy, how the hell can't you get that right? It's beyond sense it really is " But it's foreign It continues to get better. GP stated I'd be taking iron tabs 3x a day at first. Upon collecting the stuff, the labels say take 1x a day. Which is right? I shall only take 1 and await, yet again, further advice, via email

"Because the service for women's health is beyond crap. I know women that suffer in silence because they know they'll just get fobbed off at the Dr's, it shouldn't be that way but unfortunately I think we are a long way off change when it's not taken seriously. I don't bother going to the Dr's anymore unless it's something simple like an ear infection or when I had tonsillitis. His answer to everything is a need more fresh air and exercise. " If I had your doctor I might actually go, everyone needs fresh air, exercise and clean nutritious food. People sit in the house eating Nutella on toast and drinking cola then go to the doctor looking for a drug to make the symptoms go away while they continue to poison themselves (not you btw but most doctors just want to sell drugs so he sounds amazing) xx

"It's 3 times a day! At least they replied quickly...... Apparently a "computer pre-set" issue At least I no longer need to try and eat half a cow and and entire field of spinach daily " Don't have a cow, man! Sorry couldn't help myself. Hope you and iron go well together, I'm absolutely rubbish with it.
