I think I need to work on my mental health

I had a bit of a bad episode yesterday while I was at work. I got emotionally stressed when things were going wrong. My mind was all over the place and I couldn't think straight nor focus on my job. It got to a point where I just walked off without telling anyone as I just wanted to be by myself for a while. When the duty manager asked what was up, I explained as best as I could what was wrong and I believe he understood and told me to go home. He also said that if I feel like this, let them know instead of walking off. I did apologise but he told me not to worry about it.

This was the first time I had a bad moment like this in years.

I hope you find some peace in your time away OP.

I'm happy you have an understanding boss, not many would be so lucky these days, which is why most people tend not to approach their bosses.

All the best to you

Why don't you talk to your boss and see if they can help you? They might be able to suggest something or someone to talk to about it.

Sorry to hear that dude, I've been there many times, what is worth noticing and being thankful for is how your manager handled that situation, professional yet compassionate, it's rare to find in lower end jobs.

If you feel you need to work at your mental health then that's what you should do, only you can make that decision. Whatever it is you decide to do to work on it I hope it helps. Help yourself heal before it gets worse, good luck

There are many duty managers at where I work and one main manager who is good as well. I'm dreading my next shift tomorrow a bit as they probably might want to talk about what happened yesterday. I will have to do what I can to explain as stress does affect me in a way with me being autistic.

It's weird how quickly it can just hit you. Going through something similar myself at the moment. I hope that you feel better soon

Mental health affects all of us you should always try to talk to at least one person in your life about it, it's nothing to be ashamed of. Glad your manager was understanding. You got this bud

Do you think it might be your work environment triggering?

I’ve read a few of your posts now and I can both sympathise and make comparisons to feelings I’ve had in the past.

I made changes and it had hugely positive effects on my headspace.

Everyone is different and this could be way off your own situation so I really wish you well

Some workplaces have mental health first aiders. If yours does, they could be able to help you.

Wishing you well OP.

I think you've mentioned before that they know you are autistic, apologies if I'm wrong.

Try not to worry about it tonight. Could you write a note saying you don't feel comfortable talking about it yet and give them it when you go in?

They will need to talk to you about it at some point. It will clear the air for you too.

Hope you feel better tonight.

What happened was I was stuck on gate scanning cinema tickets and I was told that someone would take over when they started their shift so I could clean screens which didn't happen. I was just left there and I then find out that another member of staff didn't bother turning up which then caused me to get anxious and stressed out. So many thoughts went through my head and I felt like I was being treated like an idiot.

I'm doing my best not to worry about tomorrow and will try to explain what happens when I get stressed and upset.
