Whats everyone's experience of the app.

I joined for non-hookup reasons. I previously did dating in my early 20s possibly joining every site under the sun for 6 months for (drum roll please) a grand total of 0 messages or matches.

so joining I had zero expectations. The first month so far has 6 matches, 4 disappeared, and 2 were too lazy to even reply back. Which I think is pretty good progress for a single male.

The experience I am getting from this app as a single male is that its hardslog up a hill, and I Can see why many men drastically lower their standards to even get a match. I find Fab surprisingly a lot easier and that has an insane male to female ratio. (Maybe it's my face that puts People off hahaha).

It's a basic people ping up (mainly fake profiles and people plugging IG accounts). You then have the option of clicking a red X or green tick theres a 3rd option to look at the bio. If both of you click the green X on each other then you have matched. And only then can you message each other.

In my opinion it's absolutely horrible in everyway, certainly wouldn't be for me but whoever is on it or uses it hey knock yourself out l fully understand everyone thinks and is different, each to their own and all that but as l said it certainly wouldnt be for me.

I have a good experience on it , I like how you can only chat to matches and you can quickly delete likes. People use it for different reasons, over here it’s only the British use it for hookup so if you avoid them it’s a really good dating app with thousands of good single women.

The downside is a lot are looking for serious relationships only, but in terms of meeting good people, going on dates etc it is the best there is quality and quantity.

I’ve never been on but was listening to a podcast and this topic came up, apparently 90% of women will interact with just 10% of the men it was actually very interesting … now straight away i though that’s a crazy statistic however judging by what the ladies and couples go through on here with the junk mail, not reading profiles etc I can understand it from a different point of view as initially I thought about just the 10% being the best looking guys but maybe the 10% are just the most respectful engaging guys … I’d expect the truth is probably in the middle … Good luck OP

We met on Tinder, so it worked for us. I (Disco Balls) used it for hook ups, as well as for trying to find 'the one'. I got plenty of meets though also had plenty of no shows, as well as loads of flakey excuses for bailing at the very last minute, despite chatting for a while beforehand.

Tinder is fun. I’ve met some fun people. Had some great sex. But nothing that lasted comes from it. Hinge is better for more serious dating. Okc is best for poly dating though

It have never worked for me. I do get few matches a week and have some conversations there, but thats about it. I find it fun when you get a notification saying it is busy there lol

Tinderella here... My view of Tinder.

- People like to match for matches sake.

- Got to watch out for scam accounts

- A new thing seems to be match, send one message and never hear from them again.

- Have had one date from it but seems 'I want a long term relationship' also means 'I want a hook up'

I think all dating apps are pretty similar these days.

There is something called the tinder 17% rule. This is statistical theory that there is a probability that 17% of men on there get on average more likes then the average women.

I (Luke) used it in 2016 for a few months and things may well have changed since then.

I had three conversations going. All three women wanted to meet me. I ended up meeting two of them. One I only saw once and the other turned into a wonderful relationship and I had no need for the app when that happened.

I found Bumble a better app as the lady has to message first. I am going on a date this weekend with a lady who lives fairly close. Also talking to another two women as well.

I generally find only 1 -5 matches ever gets to dates. They’ll either always put off a date to meet up, suddenly unmatch or decide they’re no longer interested.

If you’re not arranging some sort of coffee date after a couple of weeks of regular messaging each other, it’ll probably not happen.

I've friends that have met and fucked many women through dating apps... but they always do well with women so it's no surprise.

I like Fab, the results don't change much for me, but at least I get to dress up and show off.

Been on tinder for about 3-4 years now, and have had one date from it.

I'm hoping it's just down to my complete inability to sell myself, rather than people just finding

me hideously repulsive...

In all fairness, I'm not really a fan of the swipey dating apps, as I like to read people's bio's, not just look at the pictures.

So many suggested but couldn't make plans or started the sex talk in the first 5 messages. Even though it was clear in my bio I wanted to date.

When I was single I used it purely for hook ups for a couple of months. Yes people are flaky, welcome to the Internet. However found it fairly successful. It's a funny old world tinder. I was a newly single parent, isolated, on the rebound and missing intimacy but totally not wanting a relationship. Generally the women I connected with were in the same boat. In away as sad as that sounds it was nice to meet other in the same boat.

On the few months I was on there I had a couple of one off's, a weekly(ish) FB thing and a couple of women who I never met in person but formed a sort of pen pal type friendship that naturally developed. One of them really liked me, didn't judge me about swinging and or the other women I was seeing. We got on really well but she was seeking relationships I was not in that place at that time.

Also found a bit of what I was looking for on OK Cupid and Plenty of Fish. I found fab was better for more of the swinger and couples thing (naturally) and other sites for straightforward vanilla hook ups.

Yes and no, it depends on what generation you are.

Gen-Z (can) have smaller closer freind groups and are less likely to take risks (i.e. drinking alcohol) in case it had a negative impact on their education, sporting and or career ambitions. They are less likely to go clubbing and instead rather go to the gym or do more solantry or online activaties.(no I haven't made this up)

There are also in some areas the number of clubs has decreased while at the same time in real terms are more expensive, while the cost of living makes it harder to justify spending money on nights out.

Depending where you go and what you do. Going to clubs and bars are often seen as activities for those in there teens and early 20s. From my perspective although I like a night out I feel personally too old to go to a normal clubing night. Pubs are generally seen as places for people in their 50s plus to hang out.

Yes and no, it depends on what generation you are.

I remember last time I was out in Lincoln the middle aged had inherited the earth. I remember many nights out in my youth there. The bars buzzing with students. Last time, yes still some students out and the same bars still busy. But the majority of the same bars were busy but with people late 30s plus. The same thing I find in my current industry is a big proportion of the late night revellers are late 30s plus not youths like it was when I was young.

My only conclusion is that Gen X still like to drink and party plus have accumulated the wealth and financial stability to do so. As for the young they neither have the disposable income or inclination to hammer their livers and socialise face to face.

I'm on tinder (not for hook up reasons either) and any man that matches with me (I'd say for every 10 swipe rights, I'd get 1 match) usually sits on the top of the screen under matched and they never message me, now I have taken to messaging first if they had been sat their for 24 hours with no message and usually use the lines "Hiya, hope you're well? I know you were probably playing tinder roulette but just thought I'd stop by and say hello".

Sometimes I get a reply, most of the time I either get unmatched or sat in my messages and not responded too.

So yeah, tinder roulette is real

and it's not just the women who don't reply lol

I could use all my dailey swipes and still not get a match. I know it says 21 likes but how true is this I don't know. I have noticed that it occasionally says missed match notification (which I realise it's contradictory to what I wrote above).
