Famous Notting hill carnival is coming up, I seen Sainsburys local put up a carnival banner

Anyone seen any shops decorated to prepare for it?

What are your plans for it if your going?

I want to go. I want to go and just eat good food, enjoy the vibe and the music and I might even treat myself to a magnum.

If I go**

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

I can't think of anything worse... hate crowds of people, they scare the life out of me. But it always looks like people are having a lovely time, and I hope anyone going does too!

Nothing near me even alluding to it... but I am a couple hundred miles away. Mind you, when I was in London I didn't see anything locally advertising either, is it actually advertised outside of the localish to carnival area?

In what world is that funny? But then, you have admitted to using the N word before so can’t be surprised.

Oh no I can understand large crowds can be over whelming but I would always encourage a person pay to go with a band wear t shirt and have a blast each band hire a crew of security to keep band members safe.

The areas that surround carnival advertise it and maybe by next week all the carnival after parties will be posted up on walls and lamp posts or railings etc xx

I think the “places preparing for it” thing must be a local thing nearby.

I was up in Brentford and Richmond recently and even up there in the fringes of London there was nothing I could see.

I’ve got to be honest, it’s not really my thing, I’m more of a Bridgwater Carnival type of person (what with being a simple country boy and all) but for those who are looking to go, I hope you all have a grand time, stay safe and enjoy the festivities!

Last year at the festival Seven stabbings were reportEd, with one resulting in the death of a 21-year-old rapper from Bristol, Takayo Nembhard.

Which football matches have that many ?

South Wales

Haven’t been to the Notting Hill Carnival as a bit far from me, but we have the Butetown Carnival here and I’ve been to that a few times. Hot dogs and live music, what’s not to love

Anyway, hope you all have a great time and it stays dry!!

I just don’t get why you’d comment on a thread about carnival just to make a dig. The average of the attendees (reportedly 2 million people last year) are perfectly safe. We can’t act like this type of violence is a threat to everyone so to need a ‘stab proof vest’. The carnival is not the cause of this violence. If you were only joking then that is a genuinely terribly and lazy joke.

I think you’re being very over sensitive.

It wasn’t a dig it was a joke, ‘carnival preparations’ for an event with 7 stabbings and one murder last year.

I bet it it was a Milwall football match would you be as offended at the joke ? Or are there certain areas of comedy you’d want to cancel ?

Like I said earlier- not a funny joke but very on brand. So carry on
