you hadn't started something???

The bathroom saga continueth...

Boiler installer put loads of new pipework upstairs and disconnected my gas fire and cooker due to there being an electrical fault in kitchen extension...tells me all I need do is get a gas engineer in to reconnect when leccy sorted. Done that, gets a gas-safe guy round today for what we both thought be 5 min job - it seems the cooker and fire haven't been put back onto the main and all the floorboards may need to come up again - waiting on call from boiler installers to find out what the fitter did...

Still got the recommendation off the Spark to rewire sooner rather than later...

Bathroom itself...so far 2 days work by the Spark, he's happy the bathroom wiring is now good so the builders started to board out the floor ready for the tiles to go down...now told me that it needs further levelling as it's so many degrees out and they'll need to put the 2170mm shower cabin up on a small plinth...trouble is, with the boarding, levelling and tiles, the room height is barely gonna clear 2170 mm so the ceiling may have to be raised...

On the plus side, being on crutches has it's advantages if you play your cards right...the lads are ultra good at tidying up after themselves and delivery guys go the extra mile when a poor old cripple answers the door...and both the builders are quite easy on the eye and we've been joking (well they have, I'm deadly serious) about christening the shower cabin when we finally get it installed, so I'll keep that nice thought in mind if anything else goes wrong

I always have to move out when work is done on my place. My shower installation ended up taking nearly two weeks!!

I think you need to suggest that they remain when you take your first shower, just for snagging purposes, and just in case you slip and need help. Then you can call out that something isn't working properly and they have to come and help you.

Another excellent idea...Smooth FM on the in-shower radio, bottle of wine chilling in the toilet bowl and chloroform on the sponge - SORTED!

I was given a stone bath by a family member as a gift. Turned out quite expensive present, three grand for steels to be installed and one grand to open up dormer. Hire of extending forklift £250. But it feels great and everyone says it looks great.

If I had one piece of advice it's to focus on the end result not all the crap before it.

Forgot RSJ stand for rolled steel joist in other words a "H" steel joist

Well that's the entire ceiling out! Gonna have a sloping ceiling put in so there's a lot more height where the shower cabin is going and just having a look for an extra rad seeing as the ceiling will be directly onto the roof and also a small velux so that I can get more natural light...have also found another use for a laddered stocking - will use it when I rob the fecking bank to pay for all this bloody extra work!

Oh, and I've got a social tomorrow, poor bugger's gonna have to wipe his feet on the way out instead of when coming in!

Plus side, the guys look quite good in CSI type coveralls and filthy as fuck from all the crap in the ceiling space
