Stourport-On-Severn

In the 1970's in a village i lived in, the local pub every Friday night used to be visited by the "Cockle man" He wasn't just selling cockles, it would be muscles, shrimps, prawns, whelks, jellied eels and crab. I love all of them and still eat any of them when they are fresh

Shell fish was definitely part of my childhood. I remember taking the top hats off of winkles and pulling them out with a pin for my nan.

I'm not a massive fan now though

My dad's friend worked on a fishing boat and he always brought my dad freshly cooked whelks. Oh they were so fresh and sprinkled with some vinegar and salt so delicious. Funny we were actually talking about this only the other day.

We live close by on the coast, love all sea food and get it fresh as can be.
