Their own expressed milk rubbed in might soothe it but also the pain doesn't resolve without some support with positioning and attachment usually. We cure the symptoms but we need to dig for causes. I get it's fascinating but the breastfeeding bits of your post are sort of incomplete despite best intentions I'm sure and i hope people do seek lactation consultant advice when they are really in pain.
