Been having a conversation with my dad most of the day...

Short-term and long-term planning.

Are you a long-term planner or do you focus on the short-term?

Do you appreciate the present?

It's set my mind spinning a bit...

I plan long term, overthink it, go into a mini depression, then decide to wing everything anyway.

Fun.

I’m quite impulsive. I do things without thinking about it too much. The only thing I really plan longer term is holidays so I’ve got some motivation to save money and go a bit harder in the gym.

Be present here and now, because this is the real reality, here and now, then take a peek or step forwards and plan a little. Because we still here atm.

But on the spectrum do not keep looking back so far,cos that can take one into depression, and away from the present that is right under your feet.

I planned long term in relation to finances. I'm now planning short term as looking to move within the next year

North West

Probably shorter term than we used to be, because recent experience tells us that things can change too quickly and scupper best laid plans. Obviously we plan for things like retirement by paying into a pension but beyond that, I don't believe we've thought much past the end of 2023.

All over

Planning long term is good but remember things do change and contigency measures should always be part of those plans. Also you can only plan long term really if your short term olans are reasonably on track

Oooo this is me too! Except I wouldn’t get depressed my anxiety would just kick right off and I’d be an anxious mess. Then it would all go tits up anyway!

So the medicated me now thinks it’s best just to play it by ear. And so far that is actually working out ok.

A little while ago I couldn’t even imagine making it to the evening some days. so I’ve gotten used to short term planning for a while.

Same - I haven't set fire to anyone yet, and all the children seem to be still alive. I think I'm doing quite well.

I’m a short term planner. I change my mind too much to be planning anything so far ahead.

Away for Christmas

Long term but it's a constant process that seems more like short term planning due to chronic over thinking.

I long term plans as I have little free time.

But I'm quite impulsive so can change those long term plans at the last minute.

Basically I never get round to doing anything.

I'd say short and medium term. Depending on your definition of long term? Life has constantly thrown me curve balls! So planning longterm is a waste of time for me!

I hate it when people say "where do you see yourself in 5/10yrs time?"

My answer..."fuck knows!"
