I had an interesting discussion about this yesterday and we all agreed that it would be better to be alone than in a bad company.

We talked about such things like, how important this motto is because a bad company can cause you more stress than life in solitude, because that is something that one doesnt need to have.

The reason that I choose that being alone was the better was also the one above, but as well as it can affect ones state of mind too.

What is your view about it, do you agree with the examples or do you have any other ones too?

Being around someone who bugs your happiness isn't great for your mental health, over time it can really wear you down. Life is way too short to allow someone to piss in your cereal. I'd choose to be alone, every time. I feel not enough people are comfortable just being with themselves; alone really doesn't have to be lonely.

I take being alone anyday. I don't think I could be with someone that makes you miserable for the sake of not wanting to be alone. I get it can be a lonely place for some but for me... I'm quite content with my life so far

I don't think anyone is going to say bad company - why would they?

It's almost universally recognised that being alone is better than enduring bad company. That being typed, whether or not its acted on is a completely different thing.

I think better to be alone yes, especially if the relationship is abusive or can’t be made good.

But I think sone people don’t put effort into any kind of relationship , family, friends etc and so they will become bad. Overall I think being alone and unaccountable isn’t good for you

Let’s face it - the majority of people are shite (pardon my French!) & would backstab each other in a heartbeat (even partners). BUT I believe that one diamond in the rough that many want is out there for them if they follow their intuition & accept that others are there to complement us not complete us

There is a difference between being alone and being in solitude, alone is a state of mind and feeling in the body, solitude describes your physical person and the environment you find yourself in. Solitude is important, it gives you time to reflect and be introspective, to think about your past and future actions. It also helps you take a step back and observe the world around you.

Of course you still remain in solitude while in a crowd of people, you just don't interact with anyone, but you also distance yourself from the people just feet away, like having an outer body experience, you're there, but you're not.

Being in bad company should only serve one purpose, exposing yourself to dangers around you in order to train your mind and body to be prepared for the unexpected. There's really no sense in being in bad company if you're "alone", then you're just mentally, and emotionally self harming

I do think it becomes easier with experience to out the ‘bad’ (incompatible) ones pretty easily

Are we perhaps confusing bad company with a bad relationship?

For a start, company is often in the plural at any one tome.Bad company is never usually beneficial unless, perhaps, it brings some excitement but where you remain in control, not them.

By default I’ll take alone over bad company….work or pleasure. I often chose to work alone although I can function in team and have run successful teams..

In this world we are born into. Do I worry about 'bad'. Do you mean Shag bad company as in fab or out of here shag. Classify 'bad' shag.

For me I will never see eye to eye with everyone but no need for me to take their attitude. Work wise I do my job, go home. Even if someone I wotk with I do not gel with I keep my healthy attitude.

A young girl (26) I made friends with was only a friend of mine to have someone to go out with to watch karaoke, go for a drink but I saw these were things she can't do on her own which I can.

She is in abusive relationship to the point I feel she could end up on the news if she's not careful. This guy she was seeing before I knew her shares her car with her, bruises her, recently he punched her in the face busted the inside of her lip. Looks at her location on her phone drives into London anytime I went out with her.

Stole her previous phone, she said he tried grab her throat in her sleep but she still runs back to him trying to convince her self one day he will change

he's even told her he doesn't like her going out. So controlling and possessive its painful

All I was able to do is make her mum aware of the relationship, she lives with her mum and just refused to listen that she needs to come away from him.

She knows the love is one sided so its very baffling why she doesn't keep her car and end it all for her own safety

I have been on my own for quite some time, my own choice, do I get lonely mmmm not really sometimes when out and about I see couples together and think mate I should, but then think of all the greif that can go with it. So for the foreseeable anyway, just me and my two pooches x

Absolutely! I’m fine being by myself so I have to like someone to choose to spend time with them and I don’t just mean bad company but mediocre company too. I don’t go in for ‘situational friendships’ whereby if there’s no one you actively like that you simply choose the best of a bad bunch as they are the only people available to be friends with nearby, it’s far better to be alone than do that.

We are all different in what we need and how we cope with, and love or hate, solitude.... Life can be an endless quest for 'good' company, for love. Some are fortunate, many are sadly not.
