"Take in cake on your first day (and maybe a fruit basket for the healthy types) " Your choice OK but I don't agree here this could look like a cry of desperation to be liked on your first day. That will come naturally but your colleagues didn't employ you. I would say keep them at arms length but of course do what needs to be done to get the job done so you all get paid and not under paid or put on disciplinaries

"Fake it till you make it!! It's what I did haha, was honest enough with my boss that I needed his patience and advice but faked it with those I was supervising until one day I realised I wasn't faking anymore. Good luck OP, you've got this!! Jill x" Thanks Jill xxx

"So I’m starting a new job soon and I’m terrified. I’ve been in and out of jobs regularly since I finished my cancer treatment but I really want this one to go well. It’s for a company in a complicated industry. Any words of wisdom from successful people? Xx much love xxxx" Just remember they chose you out of all possible candidates they considered you the best for this , so if you fail , which you won’t, it’s on them not you. This is how I handle occasional wobbles and insecurity on tough assignments. It’s also how I think when supporting staff I chose that seem to be struggling a little. The reality is you don’t fail, your best is your best , the best possible and better than anyone else could have done with the support you had. Just focus on doing your absolute best, it is all anyone can ask and is enough. If I’m really struggling I’ll read ‘man in the Arena’ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizenship_in_a_Republic

"Blag it! I got a job once and realised by boss thought I was some computer whizz from what I'd said in my interview. I wasn't. But I was there 6 years and had 3 promotions so, yeah, blag it!!! And Google is your friend. And bring snacks and make coffee for the boss. " Love this

"You’ve got this. And look, the worst that can happen is that you don’t enjoy it and you get yourself another job. The best that can happen is that it’s an amazing experience and you enjoy going to work everyday. Think positive and keep your chin up and chest out. " (Heart)
